Stellar Blade ass become my most hyped game this year so far, just above FF7 ReBirth. February to April are looking quite stellar months for games, best start saving.
@UltimateOtaku91 RIP my savings. But then they were like, hey, have this, and boom, a new, free Silent Hill experience.
@CharlieChooChoo Yeah that was a cool shadow drop, will definitely be trying that after work tomorrow, getting PT demo vibes.
@UltimateOtaku91 already on the trauma hotline screen splash as we speak!
Upset no Elden Ring DLC but don't let the word "upset" lead you too far in the wrong direction. I'm stoked, this was a great state of play. Im enamored over the Death Stranding 2 showcase. Kojima is just beyond words.
Upset is also the wrong word when I say all we have for Silent Hill 2 is "In development for PS5"
Like... no **it, Konami! Not even a Q2, Q3, Q4 piece of news.
The combat looked very gun-heavy and the showcase seemed very combat heavy in general which I didn't care for overall but it's coming along very nicely nonetheless. Combat in Silent Hill was never front and center except for boss battles. Not complaining, just mental dumping lol
Anyway, great SOP! I walked away happy!
I'm still itching for one new (non marvel) announcement from Sony 1st parry, but couple of things look great here particularly stellar blade + Ronin looks good.
Stellar Blade looks... stellar! Really hoping they gets a PC release sooner than later.
PS5 is looking pretty stacked so far in early 2024.
It was great but I secretly hoped for an announcement from naughty dog. Something. Anything. It's been almost 4 years since TLoU2.
Hell yeah foamstars
This was the best State of Play yet and they didn't even include Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth because that will have its own dedicated show. Amazing.
Looking forward to Silent Hill 2, Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade (getting some serious Nier: Automata vibes there), and Silent Hill: The Short Message (already downloaded and just waiting for some free time to play it)!
Judas is shaping up to be a nice spiritual successor to Bioshock - but since that's multiplatform, I'll be checking that out elsewhere.
Lots of games looked very promising and I'll definitely be checking out Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Sonic X Shadow Generations and Judas, albeit on PC. That remake of Silent Hill 2 though? Oof. That looks ropey as f**k.
@matekomlosi they've probably got to put at least one more version of TLoU2 out yet.
What the hell happened to Aces of Thunder for PSVR2 that was announced almost a year ago now
the fact that a new ip that sounds like a successor to metal gear solid and is a sony studios game is a pretty big win in my book. death stranding 2 and silent hill 2 remake look great.
Why not even mention their upcoming 1st party game, mlb the show 24? It's a month and a half away and one of the only 1st party games coming this year. They seem to have disowned that title since it went multi platform.
Xbox and gamepass do more to market it than Sony does. If they don't attempt to market it more, it will be more associated with xbox than their own platform.
They tweeted the cover athlete and game announcement 1 day ago. I feel like they could have found 2-3 minutes to squeeze in the announcement of their own game.
Yet another showcase in which two and only two PSVR2 games are shown.
I’m starting to feel I wasted five hundred quid with the naive belief that I would finally get to play Half Life Alyx. Surely they know it’s what the majority of VR2 owners want to play on the system?!?! At least back in the Vita years they had people who would work to get requested games on the system . Who the hell can we ask these days who will even listen?
Lots of stuff I personally didn't care for and the one thing that previously peaked my curiosity - the whatever of Ronin game - now sits at the bottom of my list because it's out the same day as Dragon's Dogma..
Not to say it was a bad showcase but I just don't care for the nonsense Kojima makes - or him as a public figure - and it felt like two thirds of the stream were dedicated to random imagery that occasionally looked neat and that woman in the ds2 trailer droning on about...something. Made it hard to concentrate on either thing but someone is surely going to tell me that that's the point and that I'm too stupid to understand it like with the first death stranding marketing..
I don't mind the look of a couple of these but why does every game have to be fantasy or horror? COD and Battlefield have gone more to the comedy side of things, it'll just be nice to get a solid FPS with a more realistic feel. Like Hell Let Loose but with a campaign.
Is Rise of the Ronin a Souls like game? I love the Japanese settings in games but don't have the time or patience for a hard ass game.
@Fishface45 It's an action RPG with difficulty levels. There have been no signs of soulslike elements so far (although there could be some in there).
@Kidfried Thank you, that's what I was hoping to hear, looks like I'll be picking it up for sure.
@Fishface45 It looks like a bonkers version of Ghost of Tsushima, with a stronger emphasis on combat. Very cool.
It's not like me to me a downer but I didn't think it was that great. Death Stranding 2 looked really good, looking forward to that, but other than that there was little to get me excited.
@matekomlosi I think we'll get something from SP first, then ND next. Over the next couple of years. The big question is, how far in advance will Sony announce them?
Stellar Blade and Death Stranding 2 for me. And perhaps Dragons Dogma 2. And of course FF7 Rebirth.
Add Avowed, Hellblade 2 and Indiana Jones as well and my year is already stacked.
Oh, and I kind of want Infinite Wealth as well.
And Nintendo haven't had their Direct yet. Yeah. My wallet is screwed.
I thought Stellar Blade looked really generic, but I don't mean that as an insult, I just want to point out that it's pretty incredible that we have reached a stage in gaming where something that looks as amazing as Stellar Blade does can now be considered as fairly unremarkable.
horror horror and thriller horror games ! what a "fun" year to expect from Sony. Luckily they have a ripoff of Splatoon to lighten things up
Pretty good show by Sony. 8/10
Stellar Blade looks pretty great — I must confess I hadn't heard about that game before last night; at first I thought it was a new Nier game.
@Dom_31 I feel like with a lot of stuff similar to Kojimas style, in movies or other media forms, theres eventually a pay off.
Whereas with Kojima games, it eventually pays off and the reaction is like "oh, that is literally even dumber than I imagined it could be, and it looked pretty dumb in the first place".
@Simong85 maybe you should have went for a switch?
Never have I ever been so glad to be proven wrong about a game. Thank you stellar blade for not pandering to activists on the internet and changing the artistic design of your game.
