Rocksteady has today revealed the sort of content you can expect from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League after its launch, with at least four seasons planned that'll introduce new playable characters, stories, and locations for free. You can hear about it from the studio in the video above, where the game is described as "one of the most generous, player-friendly post-launch experiences available".
The developer plans to release two story-focused episodes each season, each containing a new playable character, new environment to play in, and more gear to loot. For season one, which starts in March, you'll get to play as the Joker. This is the result of Elseworlds, a take on the multiverse where multiple villains from other dimensions will enter the world of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. He'll have his own moveset, weapons, and narrative to work through. The best part is these episodes will never be removed from the game, so you don't need to treat the game like a Destiny 2 where you need to be there in the moment.
If you own Suicide Squad, you'll get access to all this content free of charge. It sounds like the only place you can spend money is in the in-game store, which is restricted to cosmetic items. No playable content is locked behind a Battle Pass either.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches for PS5 on 2nd February 2024, though you can gain access on Tuesday next week with the Deluxe Edition. Are you happy to hear there's a ton of content on the way after release? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Can't wait to zip around Gotham with Joker wearing a jetpack and shooting at purple orbs from a wide arsenal of guns.
@Czar_Khastik If this is sarcastic, I love it.
Joker's traversal animations look slick though - starting at 9:10
@Czar_Khastik I love how specific your sarcasm is. Never change 💙
Suicide Squad carrying on its legacy of the worst character designs for the Joker. 😂
@Ludacritz Seriously, what is that design?
Why does Joker look like a 16 year old TikTok Thirst Trap Boi
Wow, I can't wait til next year when it's all updated and only $5 in the bargain bin right next to Agents of Mayhem!
@JokerBoy422 and ten million other live service offerings.
Even though this game doesn't have the worst traits of live service titles I fear that too much damage has been done already to change people's minds. ...Plus the gameplay is repeatedly not great.
Remember when full priced games used to release as a full game. Those were the days.
@Phelaidar Yes, but to be precise I am Czar Khastik
@CWill97 Thanks man! And kudos for your profile pic, I'm plowing through Yakuza as we speak.
Removed - unconstructive
@Czar_Khastik I dunno, it doesn't seem any more outlandish than The Batman Who Laughs killing Dr Batmanhattan (as in, an alternate version of Bruce Wayne who became Dr Manhattan from Watchmen instead of Jon Osterman) and then sticking his brain into his body so he can become the Batmanhattan Who Laughs.
Looking forward to this being a plus offering in a few months.
Hands down this is the worst Joker design I think I've ever seen. Which is compounded by the fact that this is the same studio that brought us some of the best Batman universe character designs I think I've seen in the Arkham series. ....... Come to think of it, isn't this supposed to be in the same universe as the Arkham games?? So why the different design if so???
@PsBoxSwitchOwner they still do… but only Nintendo and Fromsoft developed games.
PlayStation have pushed marketing for this game hard (Ads plastered all across the London underground and bus stops) so I can imagine it will sell reasonably well and some free post launch updates won't harm sales.
I don't think it will be as bad as the hardcore gaming community are proclaiming but it's something I will pick up on a deep discount to play in a quiet month.
@JokerBoy422 next month in our Libraries, installed, non-deletable, always first icon on homescreen. ...we all remember Singstar on PS3...
@AgentGuapo The firstparty games of Sony are quite complete.
@Czar_Khastik first time playing the series?! How you liking it my brotha?
@djlard lol right?! I just deleted Singstar tho
@GuttyYZ dude that pic of "The Joker" with the umbrella is just straight up Fortnite. This game will be in the bargain bin by the summer.
I am starting to feel really bad for the developers. No one wants to spend a lot of time and energy on something that fails. But this is just bad
This game can't get a break which is a shame, I do hope Nightwing or Bane make an appearance.
That's possibly the worst looking Joker I've ever seen, looks like an alternate skin in Fortnite. The Suicide Squad's movie Joker with the tattoos would be a step up
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Plenty of games still do, in fact last year saw plenty of them.
@BeerIsAwesome None of that happened though. Laughs stole most of the Manhattan energy from Wally West who acquired it when he sat on the Mobius Chair in Flash Forward, after Wonder Woman killed Laughs in Death Metal it allowed him to transcend to become Darkest Knight who then chased The Flash's to aquire the rest of the Manhattan power from Wally, after a while of being chased Wally realised for DK to be defeated he needed all of Manhattan's power so he gave it up. Later with big help from Superboy Prime who almost killed DK by himself Wonder Woman gained enough power to transcend herself and finally end Laughs/DK.
lol the fact Rocksteady thinks anyone really cares about this game is almost comical
Wtf are they smoking?
@Scoot23
The smart developers left with the rest of the team to join the new studio. These developers stayed on for the money.
@DETfaninATL. The Joker died in the Arkham universe. This is a joker from an alternate time line called Elseworld.
I feel exhausted just reading about this roadmap.
@JokerBoy422 Yeah, Agents of Mayhem is literally the first thing I thought of when I saw the initial gameplay. Definitely not a good thing
Is this is a full price game and the seasons are free then what do you get in the Deluxe edition besides the ability to play it early, in which case they should just call it the “ pay to play early “ edition? 🤷🏻♂️
But remember y'all!! This isn't a live service game, just a regular game that upon release will be updating regularly with events and new characters.... Did we mention paid cosmetics!? 🤣
Playing as the Joker is always going to feel a little wrong. Like Czar said, having a minimap and traversal mechanics for **the Joker** is just inherently absurd.
But more than anything I'm just tired. There have been so many interesting characters on the Suicide Squad over the years, why aren't we getting them? I see we'll get more characters in later seasons, but what are the chances they'll just give us Batman because he'll sell well, instead of an interesting, underrepresented character?
So a bargain-bin knock-off Jared Leto Joker is supposed to tempt us into this doa dumpster-fire?
@rjejr Its a bunch of cosmetic stuff and a battle pass token.
You see they're quick to boast about how generous they are with the "free content" but fail to mention that all of this is funded by overpriced £20 skins that people will want because skins based on popular comic book looks are naturally desired in comic book games hence why Spider-Man 2 had over 60 skins you could unlock in game without MTX.
@SometimesGhost The Joker isn't even a Squad member as well.
jokers design is horrible as usual
It's cute how they are making all these promises like they can guarantee it's gonna happen.
I will be surprised if the studio isn't closing in 2 months.
@DennisReynolds I understand $20 skins, I play a lot of Fortnite and Disney Speedstorm, but I play those games b/c they’re free and I don’t care about skins.😂 I’m not paying $60 and then paying more.🤑
@rjejr Yeah i excuse those prices on a F2P game especially Fortnite that gives a lot for free but they have no business being in a £70 game. A cheap skin pack ok fine but £20 for a single skin is taking the p!ss.
@Stevemalkpus Ah. Those sneaky ‘alternate time lines’ 😉. Makes sense I guess. Still a horrendous character design IMHO…..
Yet another reason not to buy this, especially at launch when it's incomplete.
This is a joke at best, at least to me…
@DonkeyFantasy maybe it's not ready yet. future content updates are planned well in advance doesn't mean they are ready to add
@CWill97 Brotha-san, this is not exactly my first attempt. I've finished Zero, started playing Kiwami 1 and Like a dragon, put some hours in them and got sidetracked by life. In the meantime I've decided to watch a recap of 1-5 so I'm currently playing 6. After that I'm back in Like a dragon, then Gaiden then Infinite Wealth. I know this is not the best way to do it, but my time is limited unfortunately. What do you think about this? I assume you finished most of them.
Also, I'm loving the series, it's such a blast to chill around Kamurocho and it's always fun to be part of the over the top action and Japanese dialogs.
P.S. the best thing about this Suicide Squad article is our talk about Yakuza.
@DennisReynolds Thank you for correcting and out-geeking me. Although the point still stands - is this game really that implausible in the face of something like that?
Either way, apparently the story/cutscenes in this game are the best part, so it may just be a better idea to watch them all on YouTube.
Why even bother to say it's part of the Arkhamverse in the first place? It was only ever an unnecessary limitation and one they're clearly going to ignore anyway. Oh and if you are going to use a Batman villain with an Umbrella as their mode of transportation, then surely that is Penguin
"the multiverse"... there's another square on my 'overused superhero tropes' bingo card filled in.
I thought this was in the Arkhamverse? Joker should not be appearing. Makes City/Knight immediately redundant an non-canon.
I can see why they chose these 'off-the-shelf[ characters.
The colourful, dynamic graphics, gameplay, weapons and character designs look like real fun. Unfortunately using DC world to put the theory into practice is a double-edged sword. I'm pretty sure it would have been more successful if it was an all-original world and characters.
I don't care about this game at all, but I'm shocked by this Alan Cumming Joker hate! Y'all don't like Alan Cumming?
What's in the Battle pass how much will it be? How much will the skin's be? I've noticed they've not talked about this yet, not that I've seen anyway. I not really sure about this game, I'll have to see some reviews.
@Juanalf yeah but that florida joker moron would probably get his Manpon in a twist and kick off that they used his likeness and he wants reparation now 🤣
Killing joke
@DennisReynolds $70-to-start is the new gaming ideology.🤑
@Czar_Khastik Tbh if your time is limited, there is no shame in sticking to recaps and hitting up the newer games. I do suggest playing 1 before Infinite Wealth though. Seems like it’s going to be a full circle tie-in with that. As long as you listen to a good recap, you’ll still enjoy the games. Obviously playing them you’ll get the most out of it. You’ll miss the whacky substories and what not. But yeah, I’d do 0, 1, 2 (if you have time go back to it since it’s so great), 3 (recap), 4 (recap), 5 (recap), 6 (must play), 7 (must play), Gaiden (must play) then Infinite Wealth/
@CWill97 I will certainly go back to the games I watched a recap of when I manage. Thanks for the recommendations, this is mostly inline with my current plan as well.
The only thing bugging me is, you say 1 should be played before infinite wealth? I own kiwami 1 on disc, so if that is what you're suggesting, I might even do it because I wanted to experience the Nishikiyama story (since he was a big part of the story in Zero).
@Czar_Khastik I would definitely play Kiwami 1 when you have time. I only say you should play it before (but not like exactly before- Gaiden should be the game you play right before) starting IW because the story largely connects to it. Plus, 1 has the best Majima moments so it’s a must play 😂😂
@CWill97 Oh right, the Majima Everywhere mechanic! I've played Kiwami 1 to a certain point and indeed it was great fun, so I'll definitely revisit it before IW now that you've mentioned all of this.
One last question, did you replay any of the Yakuza games in New Game + mode (or Premium Adventure, whatever it is called, I can't remember). If so, is there any replay value or is it better to start a new game on higher difficulty if one wants to revisit the game?
@Czar_Khastik some games allow NG+ in legend (I’m pretty sure Kiwami 2 did) but I believe most don’t. Premium Adventure lets you continue your substory progress and other activities post-game.
Legend difficulty is no joke though. I haven’t really beat it on a lot: only Kiwami 2, 4, and 6. If you’re only doing it for the story, I’d stick to like hard mode. But if you’re trophy hunting, there’s no avoiding Legend difficulty in most games 😭😭
Oh, I forgot to mention both Judgment & Lost Judgment are fantastic Yakuza spin-offs. But, you should focus on the mainline games first IMO!
@CWill97 Oh right, I got it mixed up. Legend mode is the hardcore one. Yeah, I guess I'm skipping that since I stopped hunting for trophies due to my time constraints. New game on hard is what I'll do if I feel up for a challenge because I've heard that car chasing scenes in Zero and Kiwami 1 are near impossible on legend difficulty.
The Judgment duology is a great set of games and since they are spinoffs, there is not so much to catch up to, storywise. But there is one other spinoff which I own for the ps3: yakuza dead souls. That one seems like a lot of fun, did you play it?
@Czar_Khastik yah those two scenes I had difficulty on normal. Anything that involves cars in games amps the difficulty dial to 200 for me. They’re the reasons I didn’t even attempt a platinum on either 😂 I think NG on hard mode should be suffice for a challenge!! Difficult to a point yet challenging
Exactly! The Judgment games (and Kaito Files DLC) are great spin-offs. The main saga doesn’t really (very minor) break into the Judgment games besides the cities really. I wish people didn’t shy away from them because of the fear of “I need to catch up on 7 games first”.
I’ve never played Dead Souls! How did you like it if you tried it?! I’ve wanted to try it for ages! I rarely played the PS3. I pretty much skipped a generation 😂 I only got it at the end of its life cycle and played like Ratchet & Clank Collection & Skyrim with my girlfriend at the time.
I didn’t really start gaming on PS post-uni/college until the PS4. Started Day 1 practically (or close to it) with PS1 then PS2. Skipped PS3 for the most part. Got a PS4 halfway through its cycle. Then Day 1 for PS5 again. So it was a full circle moment 😂 I actually remember when I was a kid going to Toys R Us to buy the PS1with the whole family. We all got to pick out one game. Such good times 😎😎
yes, I went off-topic completely on a topic that was off-topic on the topic of the thread.
@Czar_Khastik I probably wrote way too much but yolo
@CWill97 Nah, you didn't write too much. This was a more entertaining read than anything related to Suicide Squad.
I've been cruising around Onomichi in Yakuza 6 and I've gotten to the clan creator part so I was a bit offline since last night. The hours just flew away, I didn't even notice due to all those substories, clan recruiting and cat feeding.
I'm looking to purchase Judgment for the PS5 because I have the PS4 version, but it will have to wait. The main storyline needs to be conquered first!
I went through the same exact process with PS lifecycles like you. I've skipped the entire PS3 generation due to money issues and being occupied with college but now I've started collecting for the PS3 again. Yakuza Dead Souls was one of my first purchases for it because I managed to snag a steelbook edition from my local marketplace for a decent price (it was released only in Germany and Australia if I'm not mistaken). I've played it for an hour or so and it was really fun and more over the top due to zombie hordes than any other Yakuza game.
The only problem I have with the pre-PS4 era is that I can't put the console in rest mode to pick up the game instantly after pausing it for a longer period of time. I've gotten used to the rest mode way to much, it spoiled me in a way.
All in all, if you manage to get a copy of Dead Souls, give it a go. It's a bit clunky due to its shooting mechanics but it's zombies in Kamurocho, you can't go wrong with that
@Czar_Khastik when people look back at this thread 20 years from now, they’ll be like: “That Yakuza thread was really amazing?” and not remember anything about Suicide Squad
Yakuza 6 is pretty much a refined version of Yakuza 2’s mechanics, so if you love 6, you’ll love 2. Y6 is an awesome ride IMO.
Clan creator was a lot of fun! I wish more games did the character codes like it does. You can honestly get immersed in Clan Creator for hours. Is that your favorite mini-game in the Yakuza series so far?!
I actually loved Judgment because of how different it was to the main games. Basically it’s Yakuza but detectives. Plus, the first’s story was a lot of fun to unravel. Hope you enjoy it!
Family, money, college, girlfriends, work, sports, etc all killed my time in my 20’s. I’m kinda happy I skipped the PS3 generation because when games like Mass Effect, Dead Space, Uncharted,, etc. got remastered/remade to PS4/PS5, they felt like new titles to me. What are your favorite games that you went back to when collecting them for the PS3??
I love Yakuza’s over the top moments so I’m sure I’ll enjoy Dead Souls when I get a chance. Maybe RGG will bring it to the new Gen like Ishin. That’d be wild. If RGG makes it, I’ll play it.
Dude, rest mode is best mode. I remember the PS1 days of secretly leaving on the family system because I was mid-level. It’d almost always get turned off 😂😂
I’ll be playing Infinite Wealth with all my gaming time for the next week or two, so I’ll be in the mood to talk Yakuza. If you ever want to chat about Yakuza (story, characters, mini-games, shenanigans, etc.) without being spoiled, I’m your man 😎😎😎
@CWill97 If a lost soul stumbles upon this article in 20 years from now, at least they will get interested in games Ryu Ga Gotoku studios made.
Well basically, what you're saying (which is also reflected in your first post) is to play each entry besides 3, 4, 5. May I ask what is wrong with them? Or perhaps they are just mediocre story fillers?
Unfortunately I did not play many minigames. I've finished only Y0 and the story got to me so much that I rushed the game when its second half started. That means that I missed the cabaret manager game which I know is a great one.
I liked the kart racing in Y7, but that's the exact point where I stopped playing when I was moving to another apartment.
So as you see, clan creator really is my favorite game so far but that might as well be because I skipped so many of them.
On the PS3 I very much enjoyed the HD remakes, especially a favorite of mine: Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 & 3. Other than that I started playing Alice and beat Afro Samurai. So, as you can see, I tend to go all over the place when it comes to gaming genres.
I would love to talk more about RGG games in general and I also will commit to finishing the ones we talked about. And also, I would very much appreciate if you would provide your honest opinion regarding Infinite Wealth
