Smashing away on Type 0 at the moment.. just on Chapter 3, played 15 hours or so, a couple of characters around level 30. This game really dishes out trophies so I've been spending some time picking up some of the easy ones, too.
I'm really enjoying it.. More so than what I've played of the FF15 demo, although I need to give that a fair run, too.
Yeah I'm loving what I've played of it so far. I'm about 8-9 hours in and just hitting the end of Chapter 2. Made some daft mistakes and got shredded by the boss due to having very few characters left, but should go down fine on the next attempt! I've taken the same approach with some of the trophies (eg the ones for getting certain mission bonuses), as I figure the mission replays are all good for building up your characters anyway!
The only thing frustrating me so far is free time, and working out what to do with it. Obviously the lectures from Moglin are priority due to stat increases, but I never know which of the optional scenes (the exclamation marks) to go for - so many seem totally inconsequential, so I'm always a bit concerned I'll be picking something rubbish and missing something more important without realising!
I cleared it on Saturday, took me 52 hours all in I finished with Cinque as my highest level character at 52, then Queen at 47 and Ace 45. I liked playing as Queen (especially with her warp move to get in close to the enemy) but I just found a ranged character more reliable for taking down high level enemies with killsights etc. The rest were 28-40. I had about 70% trophies and the airship but I definitely didn't spend too much time exploring in chapter 7 as once I'd got the airship I just did some levelling and went for the end game. I had plenty of time left on the clock too. Seriously wouldn't worry about time, in the later missions I found I had more than enough.
I've started a new game + on Agito difficulty and already found some new cut scenes etc. that weren't there first time round. I'm going to play through again and explore more thoroughly as I didn't go to the volcano/tower and many other places, and I didn't bother with the large scale battles. From what I read it takes 3 runs through to get everything, if you're so inclined.
Some of the shorter expert missions are good for levelling up otherwise I thought maybe the world map was a bit quicker.. I wish it showed XP acquired at the end of rounds though!
I love the soundtrack but some of the music loops are just too short and they start over again after each battle, I'll be grinding with spotify this time round!
Overall it's the first FF game I've enjoyed in over a decade, and while it isn't really FF per-say I probably rank it around my 3rd/4th favourite in the series.
There is meant to be new cut-scenes, events and even a new editing as the game is meant to be played twice. It is one of the reasons I am not worrying about the expert trials, ect as I can do them second time round as they are meant to be.
Yes, although I found 4-5 expert trials were easy enough on the first run through, some of the later ones are clearly impossible until the 2nd or 3rd
Yes I just got ffzero this mornin for Easter. Gonna stick it on after work. Cant wait to see some of the similarities and thanks for the advice on this forum.

Nice, let us know what you think. I can honestly see why certain people might hate it, actually. I love it myself, I'm really itching to give it another run through on NG+. I hope you enjoy it. The battle system is really good.
Ive just played episode duscae, like what the hell have I just played?? Its actually alright and looks promising to be a cracking game fully fleshed out. But its so unlike the final fantasies I grew up with it may as well be titled something else. Like 4 dudes in a ditch or skint camper formerly known as prince. The way you equip is odd, the fighting is odd (and actually very weak), the missions are more like Ubisoft games, theres a sneaking section with a restart upon being caught (seriously) which goes on for ages, the behemoth battle is awkward and then you run away (I glitched into a wall on my first attempt and had to restart the whole thing) the campings really good, the art style is nice but more like ff13 than anything before it, the setting is current time on another world so they have a mobile phone like an iphone (sad 😢) the graphics are good in places and the views are cracking, the music is nice but due to the open world nature you constantly hear danger riffs, the four blokes have their own personalities and I actually quite liked them, the English dub is bit iffy - but bearable. I'm sure one of them is the old Balthier out of ff12. As a standalone Demo its an easy 8 or 9 out of 10 - but as a continuation of ff its more a 3 or 4.

I didn't think much of the 15 demo either, still havnt finished it actually. But I quite like the main cast and looking forward to getting my teeth into the full game. The combat is quite limited but it should be expanded further in the full game when you can equip gambits for your other characters etc. still think type-0's combat is tons better at the moment, though.
@kyleforrester87 Putting zero on in a minute so looking forward to that. Kyle you havnt voted in the psgoatcup its the final league and ff6 is sat in 3rd place :/ give it a go as you can make the difference.

Well 45 minutes into type-0 and its good (just got battered by the boss Odin beats first) the game is great. But the graphics are muddy and how they can call it hd is beyond me. The camera is also pretty grim. But actually the mechanics are great and the story is epic so far.

Lol yes will do sorry I wanted to do it on my computer not my phone as I'm pretty far behind with that thread. Will do in an hour
3 hours in and just liberated some cities in chapter 2 so gonna throw out my honest opinion. I like it, its actually a neat rpg with some great ideas and the levelling works well, the characters are good as well and the school hub area reminds me of ff8. The equipment, team, reserves, sso, equipment, music and voice acting are all great. However the graphics are appalling, the worst I have seen in a retail release on a console for 10 years. I'm gonna carry on as its solid and rewarding. But everything about the graphics screams cash in. This is not a hd port the textures are clearly low res and actually embarrassing. If square had put more effort into the graphics this could of quite easily been brilliant.

The graphics aren't ace but I didn't find them too bad. It's HD, just not very good HD haha. I'd have liked more variety in the towns. But really for me it's about the combat/character customisation. Since I prefer the PS1 era FF's the poor graphics didn't bother me too much.
I can see why it would put some people off though, especially next to FFX HD.

Ah, plenty since it is a 4 year old game released on a handheld with the equivilant horse power of a 10-15 year old console. For that reason obviously I'd say graphics. The story is a little disjointed/fragmented and I'm not a fan of the whole L'cie thing. Naturally, larger towns with more variety and the ability to go in more buildings and shops. Final Fantasy always had awesome towns, in this much less so. The music is good but i'd like more variety and for it to loop less..it does get a little grating at times. The battle system is pretty spot on but I'd like to be able to customise other character members with gambits or whatever. It sucks not being able to change weapons/magic set ups on the fly and it's hard comparing weapons/armour against what you've currently equiped. I didn't like having to cancel tasks to start new ones, and although I don't want to get bogged down with quests like Skyrim/Dragon Age a bit more variety or additional steps to completion wouldn't have gone amiss. A little thing but I'd like to see how much exp I gained after the battle too.
I really tried to take the game for what it was and I turned out liking it alot more than I'd hoped, but obviously a sequel has tons it could improve upon.
Back on ffzero this week and playing to completion. Not even gonna touch another game until knack on psplus on the 8th.

Not cleared the HD version but the original certainly didn't and I don't expect this is any different. It's not really designed for that kind of replayablity.
Up to the cave of the stolen fayth on ffx obtained yojimbo and am about to move the story on.
Where are the level 3 key spheres as my levelling I about to crash? I have none. But loads of one and twos and a couple of 4s

No NG+ I'm afraid. As for the key spheres I can't remember off the top of my head but Google is your friend here - gamefaqs have some fantastic pieces to help identify the easiest spots to get certain items / spheres.
If you do start again and go for platinum, prepare for a brutal grind. Think I spent 20-30 hrs almost exclusively fighting the same two enemies to finish getting the levels and spheres I needed to gear up for beating Penance.
From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5

Which grid did you do the trophy for completing the grid on? The international version or the original version. I'm not going to get it now (will likely go for the 100% fff10-2) but I would like to know. I'm using the massive grid, which is tons of fun and I have Wakka and Auron down the left bottom, Lulu as a superpowered mage of death going slightly south east up the east side and now pretty much north. Ive mucked both Yuna and Tidus up as they still have less Tha 2000hp. What a game though.

Hey buddy, just came over here to give you some Flux advice and realised I never responded to this, sorry about that! To answer your question, I went with the standard grid, purely because I always found it made things go more smoothly as each character is structured to be pretty balanced. Tbh I always tend to prefer a fixed upgrade path where things unlock at set milestones, as otherwise I have a tendency to judge badly and mess things up haha!
As for Seymour Flux, I'd start by saying by far the easiest is to bring in all aeons (I think 5 at that point) with full OD, poisoning Seymour with Bio before you start calling them out. He'll banish them after each summoning, but if you can start off the battle giving Yuna haste that shouldn't be an issue, and after all have blown their load he should be done (as the Mortiorchis thing drains his health to heal itself if I remember correctly).
If you want to do it without aeons, you need to get yourself set up quite defensively. Silence him at all times with Wakka, so that he doesn't use spells like Flare and Dispel. Then get Protect set up on everyone and lay in to him. Make sure you either have anti-zombie armour (apparently this can be bought from Wantz on the mountain) or loads of holy waters! Something I seem to remember helping when I last did this was that Lulu was insanely strong with her magic for me, so I just used her to keep Mortiorchis dead - that way it was draining health from Seymour to recover, and I have a feeling this also stopped it from ever finding the time to Full-Life any zombied party members. If you get Bio on Seymour as well, this plus the Mortiorchis draining him gives a good 2500ish damage per round, on top of whatever your other characters get in between support duties. Also you will need shell half way through, as he charges some painful attack that is used without fail.
This is part memory, and part looking stuff up, so can't guarantee all of it will help, but good luck all the same! Like I said at the start, if all else fails, bio + all Aeons = easy victory. The worst is definitely yet to come though, keep us updated on how you get on!
Earlier you mentioned going for 100% on X-2. I finished this the other morning and managed it in one run, so pleased with that! I will say though that it's not worth going for on your first time through, as you'd ruin the rest of the game. It is absolutely only feasible if you follow guides. I say that plural, as I used two and found that there were various points that weren't entirely accurate in each guide, but following them together ended up steering me right! The guides I used were these two:
Also, if you fancy attempting Last Mission once you're done with X-2, I finished that off this morning and will give one big bit of advice. All the strategies on the online boards are sound, particularly any that (sensibly) recommend maining Gun Mage, getting the Triple Tiara, and crafting -proof Accs early on. But what most of them miss is really important - DIG. Seriously, use Yuna and find a Trainer DS early, then dig until you've got 3 items before on each floor before moving to the next. Most of these can be chucked, but eventually you'll get Copy Technique (x2 if you're lucky). 2 of these will quadruple your DS level - I used them to turn a Lv19 Gun Mage into Lv76, and the rest of the game was easy. I've seen people online saying LM takes 30+hrs to complete, but I did it in pretty much 10 dead on after I did that!
Edit: just got the 99-chain trophy, so only 2 to go now for the plat - complete a fiend tale (quick and easy), and complete the bestiary (slow to OS everything, but will be dead simple). Nearly there now, and between X-2 and LM my playtime is currently only 70hrs, not bad compared to how long X took, and much less grindy too! That said, X is still a far superior game...

Gotta say I'm thoroughly enjoying FF14 so far. Level 18, opened up a few of the larger areas and completed a dungeon. Probably my favourite since FF9 although with it being a MMORPG it's not really a fair comparison.
Just started a second job as an armour.. Any tips for running a crafting class? Should I be trying to find my own materials or just buying them? And what should I be doing with the items I create? Seems they arn't worth selling. Do I just need to level that up until I can make stuff worth selling? Or is the point to make gear for my other classes?
