Double dipped on Disco Elysium. Sounds silly as my Steam version got an upgrade but this way my mum and brother can play it too! Brilliant price for what you get too.
@nessisonett Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good deal with the 20% discount making it only $32. It does look like this is a PS4 game only, no PS5 upgrade available, correct? (Not that 60fps and Ray tracing are necessary for the isometric type of presentation) I’m wavering on getting it since my backlog is still pretty substantial, but the price point is better than I expected.

@nessisonett Oh, is it a free upgrade from the PS4 version? I’m not seeing it on the app. For me it only says the PS4 version and in fact says “Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available may be absent on PS5” which seems the standard disclaimer for playing via backwards compatibility on PS5.

@nessisonett@Voltan Thanks. Looks like it’s just one option to get both versions, apparently, but the app is pretty unclear. Other games like Miles Morales or AC Valhalla have clear verbiage saying that the purchase entitles you to both PS4 or PS5 versions. They must have forgot to put that on for DE. If I buy it I’d like to have the option for later

@nessisonett Good question - it should be either zł or PLN (equivalents of $ and USD). Guess the localisation just sucks, which isn't too surprising tbh
@Voltan From a technical standpoint, one potential reason could be that the ł symbol isn’t included in the ASCII letter set. So if the PS Store uses ASCII then perhaps that’s why! Still it’s the little things like that which irritate me when companies butcher Gaelic 😂
@nessisonett I'm usually using the English version of the store but I switched to Polish to check and while the descriptions all have correct Polish diacritics, the currency is still "zl". Weird but who cares, really
@Thrillho It runs perfectly fine after the patch. Plus the controls feel fine to me coming off PC. I think the article was a bit premature given there’s always Day 1 patches.
Yeah, that Disco Elysium article is blatantly untrue after the Day 1 patch. It runs fine. Perfectly fine in fact. And the interaction controls are a matter of preference but let’s be fair, getting a point and click game to work on controller is not easy at all. I worry that they really wanted to try to make it the next Cyberpunk but it’s not at all.
@nessisonett That’s good to hear. Surely the performance will improve with even more patches.
How about the “Final Cut” content? Are you happy with it? The original game was quite a classic in your view and so I’m wondering how you think the new voice acting and added features resonate. Do they add or detract from the previously existing game?

@Th3solution Oh yeah they’ve been great so far. Visuals are a lot cleaner with more well-rounded models in the overworld and nicer lighting, especially the weather. The voice acting is superb and totally adds to the experience as the original only had certain voices lined. I like the narrator too, and it makes sense that they have the one VA for every part of the player’s brain as it is obviously their subconscious talking. The game remains as gripping as it was when I first played it and it’s amazing seeing my different choices and the extra content making my playthrough already totally different. The only small thing is that I prefer one of the characters’ old voice actor!
