The floodgates have opened, and some of 2024's major games have begun spilling out. We imagine a lot of people will be taking on Tekken 8 or sunning themselves in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's Honolulu. Whether you're jumping into a brand new release or delving deep into the backlog, there's no shortage of games. Here's what the team is up to this time.
Aaron Bayne
A new weekend, a new season of Diablo IV. I'll be grinding away with Season of the Construct with my brand new Sorcerer. I'm going for a pyro build, and I'm already the best part of the way to level 50, so hopefully I'll be set up for some more endgame content after this weekend.
Jaimie Ditchfield
It's finally time! I'll be ordering myself a classic Hawaiian pizza from Dominoes, putting my legs up, and immersing myself in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The last two entries have been among my favourites, so I hope this one delivers!
Jamie O'Neill
Last weekend I returned to 1999 by starting Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, yet while I expected a quick arcade blast, after ten hours of exploration playtime I've only just left Coruscant, so I'd misinterpreted Big Ape Productions' design focus on its PS1 game.
Liam Croft
I'm on review duty this weekend with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. I can't say anything about it for a few weeks, but I'm playing it and that's what you asked!
Stephen Tailby
I'm on a bit of a retro kick at the moment. I have so many modern games I've yet to even start, but I'm feeling the pull of old favourites, like Burnout 3: Takedown — which is still superb, by the way.
That's it from us, but what about you? What's on the agenda this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.

1. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss because of the new Factory town that came out just before the new year! It is awesome! (Steam Deck)
2. Castlevania III Dracula's Curse - really hard game
3. Castlevania 64 - still struggling but I have some progress
4. Gothic - just got it and I have only read and watched the game but never played it
Happy gaming!
Super Mario Bros Wonder: I gotta say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought this would be quite difficult (given that I have struggled with 2D Mario's in the past) but it's not so bad and really is very inventive. The Wonder Flowers have zany and wacky effects that keep you on your toes, and the Badges provide a nice little boost if you're struggling.
It might be the best Mario I've played since Odyssey.
Finishing off Miles Morales, just got the Spider-Man PS5 upgrade for £5, and Separate Ways. Need to get a bit further with LotF (so good, much better than I was expecting)
Happy gaming folks!
I want to play TLOU2, but Inscryption has put some kind of curse on me and I can’t stop playing it. Almost at the platinum…
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth of course
X-men Origins: Wolverine - awesome game fair play! Finished my Normal run this morning and will make a start on the Hard playthrough later.
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and A Plague Tale Requiem
I started Tales of Arise, I'm enjoying it so far - only in the second realm. Some of the voice acting is a bit cheesy but there are a lot of ways to see the characters interact that aren't forced which is a nice touch.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy. So good to be playing this series again.
Currently playing No Return for TLOU pt2. Having a lot of fun with this new game mode. Just makes me sad on what could have been with Factions.
Then also cleaning up some trophies on Final Fantasy XVI. Happy gaming all.
Ps5 Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth still in the tutorial first 2 hours. On Game Pass Amnesia The Bunker and Palworld. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. Haven't played Rising since Ps3 days love this game. Im very intrigued about Banishers Ghosts of New Eden
The game with one of the hardest main menu music ever - ELDEN RING. With all the time I've spent with this game, Stormveil is still showing hidden paths I haven't been. What a game. I've managed to complete Boc's questline this time round, I avoid internet guides to keep the element of surprise coming.
I bought Robocop the other day so probably continue with that really like it so far though some of the side objectives are ridiculous lol. I've also been playing Surviving the Aftermath which is pretty good but the progress is so slow feels like a mobile game. On Xbox I've started the Telltale Walking Dead games and still trying to finish Max Payne 3.
I'm still on my Yakuza series playthrough kick I started last week... I started Yakuza 4 last night (I'm focusing main story so I don't get burnt out on the side story stuff) and I'm not sure how I feel about this entry so far, but I'm sticking with it. Game Pass has them all up to LAD;Y so I'm good for a few more weeks.
If I need a break I might fire up Avatar FoP for a bit OR finally jump... heh climb on to Jusant.
Final Fantasy 16 - So I´ve finished the story and all the side missions and all that. What a great game. The story got me good. So good in fact I decided to jump straight to ng+ and I´m really enjoying it a lot the second time, just focusing on the best parts of the game. My second favorite FF game after the original FF 7 but guessing the FF7 remakes might change that especially given how good rebirth looks
Vertigo 2 - I´ve been playing this more since last week. Its a fun, goofy, silly game and its very impressive for a one man job. Its a bit buggy though still so even if I have a lot of fun with it I would recommend waiting for some patches and maybe a sale.
Epic Roller Coasters VR - So I found a free to play roller coaster game for VR, you get some tracks to play but have to pay for most of them. Sweet ***** god you´ll get motion sickness from this game. I´m not sensitive at all but barely managed a ride without vomiting so you´ve all been warned
I'm testing out games in UEVR, which is a new
magical miraclePC-app that lets you play just about every Unreal 4 and 5 game in full VR.I've been watching a lot of videos while taking notes on how to add motion controls to weapons (its pretty simple actually) so I plan on giving Supraland and Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey a go later today.
I need my fix of uncharted, it’s been so long
So paid £10 for the lost legacy upgrade and shall be playing uncharted 4.
Come on Sony give us some more of what made you so great.
Tekken 8 now I've finished Spidey 2. Diablo 4 might get a look in but really have not started to play that at all. Also got a vibe for virtual pinball at the moment so reliving some classics
I'll be doing the challenges in TLoU 2 No Return.
I might give the Granblue Fantasy demo another spin too.
Whenever I'm not studying this weekend, I'll be playing AA: Apollo Justice or Persona 5R. A nice surprise: Shadow Tactics have launched on PS Plus Extra and I've been having a lot of fun with the top down tactical game! There are so many creative ideas tucked away in that title. Anyways, happy gaming everyone!
I recently finished TotK. What a game! How Nintendo managed to top BotW is mind blowing to me.
I also earned the platinum for Alan Wake 2 this week. Another incredible gem I highly recommend.
Having completed those two games means my GOTY run only got one game left and that's BG3 on Series X.
HOWEVER, I'm very tempted to buy Tekken 8 so yeah... And to make things even more "difficult" I also want to preorder FF7 Rebirth because I never played the DLC for the first one which comes free with the preorder. I also wouldn't mind trying TLOU2's No Return. Decisions... decisions... Have a good weekend everybody.
Im playing the awsome crisis core final fantasy 7 the reunion.i will be playing the incredible octopath traveler 2.im almost done with Oswald story.oswald is easily the best character in octopath traveler 2.i will be playing the excellent and one of the best games ever made in divinity original sin 2 definitive edition.i will be watching my boston Celtics 💚🖤 play.i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 shows in Sanford and son.good times.the Jeffersons.and saved by the bell.word up son
Ultrawings 2, Resi4 VR, Pixel Ripped 1995, and might buy Vertigo 2 (although I’m loath to start another game when my PSVR2 backlog is already so large).
Might play some FFX on the portal when in bed if the wife falls asleep first, as has become my pattern.
I'm in a rush to finish Octopath Traveler 2 before Granblue Fantasy Relink early access start on Monday. I'm 110 hrs in and at the Endgame section but work and other meetings today and tomorrow will make it difficult 😪 At least monday I have the day off.
Happy gaming everybody!
Tekken 8 on PS5, been torn a new one online already lol. The best Tekken yet. Loved 7 but this raises the bar
Just finished Robocop Rogue City on XBX ..enjoyable fan service but a 00's bang average shooter
Also will finish Assassins Creed Mirage ..its good to finally finish an AC game in less than 200 hrs but this is a great game in its own right.
I'll also dip more into Avatar FoP on XBX, a graphical stunner and a fantastic open world adventure
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
In the middle of my TLOU marathon, currently at the Scar island in part II (I'm playing in reverse order). Man, it has some of the best 3rd person action gameplay to date. Looks almost perfect too... apart from those hideous cube maps 😬 like seriously awful. However, the increased draw distance means pop-in is hardly noticeable, plus the increased resolution results in much cleaner textures. Runs and looks great in the 40fps mode.
Also marching onwards in my nth playthrough of Dragon's Dogma AKA the best game ever made in preparation for the Second coming of Christ AKA Dragon's Dogma 2 !
For my horror cravings I've revisited The Chant, which is one for anyone who loves a good AA horror. Different to the usual budget haunted house affair from a smaller studio.
Edit : Oh and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen (PS4 BC) looks incredible on an OLED (LGC3). Pretty sure there's no HDR but those deep blacks are sexy as hell. Especially effective in building tension at night or in caves/forests!
DD is one of those odd games that looks rough as hell at some points, then delivers incredibly gorgeous vistas with awesome creature designs/animations at others. Also the sheer amount of physicality/interactivity in the world is rather impressive for a PS3 game too - even beats out some PS5 exclusives in that area. Overall it holds up very well, especially thanks to some of the best hack 'n slash combat to ever exist 😎
tl;dr: buy Dragon's Dogma and cherish it forever 🧡🫘
Palworld Palworld Palworld Palworld
Prince Of Persia (PS5) and MWIII (PS5).
Still have Super Mario RPG to start on the Switch too.
I’ve made a mistake 😅, I finished YS: lacrimosa of Dana last week and was like let’s look at my backlog. Instead I have somehow purchased YS:memories of celeta and am now playing that. 🤣🤣, I am my own worst nightmare. Oh well, I’m also playing the new Apollo justice trilogy that’s just come out.
After polishing off 100% on ‘The Last Faith’, I’m sticking to tradition in alternating between brutally challenging games and old-school P&C adventure games…
Last night started “Justin Wack & The Big Time Hack” - great P&C very reminiscent of classic Lucasarts, with similar art style to Day of the Tentacle.
Once I’ve finished Justin Wack, I’m torn between what to play for the next ‘hard’ game. Choosing between Lords of the Fallen, Grime or new Prince of Persia
FF7 remake yuffie interlude, hardspace: shipbreakers?, beat saber and maybe the psvr2 version of job simulator.
Diablo 4 for me. Season 3 is superb fun and brings a huge improvement to everything. Battle pass still sucks hard though. Have a great weekend folks 👍
Jedi Survivor on PS5 and Midnight Resistance on the Evercade, awesome game just wish I had the twisty joysticks from the arcade version, that would be perfect.
Happy gaming folks
Picked up my Final Fantasy XVI playthrough last night. Now that I can give it the attention it deserves with BG3 far enough in the rear mirror. Good to see people still playing it here, too.
I might play some Hogwarts Legacy but honestly it's making me crave a much better open world game, so we shall see. I will try to finish it before buying something new. I will really try! There might not even be anything new that satisfies that urge, but I can hear RDR2 and TW3 calling me if there isn't 😅
And if I end up just doing a few bits of quick casual gaming away from RPG/story focused stuff, it'll be some Session: Skate Sim
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Not looking it up to avoid spoilers, but it seems like I'm in the middle of the final mission and will likely wrap things up this weekend. It's been a great ride.
Simple weekend:
Wrap up Lords of the Fallen.
Start Final Fantasy Crisis Core in preparation for FF7 Rebirth.
Oh and some BG3 in there for good measure.
@CJD87 Last Faith was fantastic. I’m wrapping Lords of the Fallen myself and have Grime next on my dashboard. LOTF gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Just don’t treat it like a clone of Dark Souls. It is its own game and I loved my time with it. Debating a second run in NG+0 just to crush through got some side quests I missed.
Currently playing Final Fantasy XVI, I think I have 3 chapters left so still lots to do!
@Mintie
For me 4 was the worst. But hang in there, 5 is the best.
I’ve been in backlog mode for awhile - finally got platinum #127 in Stray - so I thought I’d try my hand at something new. I bought Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora because it just looked like fun and my kind of game but after a few hours I really don’t like it. It’s times like these I wish PlayStation had a better refund policy…
So I’m playing the Mega Man ZX Legacy Collection and Star Wars KOTOR. Old reliable. Happy weekend everyone!
Ultrawings 2, GT7 and Towers and powers.
Everything is good in vr!
Throughout the week I played The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and got the platinum trophy. I did it the proper way instead of having it auto pop from my PS4 save. I could write an essay on this game, but I’ll keep it short and simple: it’s exceptional in every facet.
I did purchase Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which I’ll be diving into heavily this weekend. I figured it’s the perfect Portal game, and I miss this franchise quite a bit so I’m excited we have a new entry that’s critically praised. I’m only two hours in but it’s surprisingly better than I expected.
Another game I’m playing is GTA 3 (The Definitive Edition). Vice City was my proper introduction to this franchise, although I remember watching my friend’s dad play 3 and being enamored with it ever since. I’m slowly chipping away at the game — doing a mission here and there, and I’m finding it quite difficult. Some of the earlier missions are genuinely difficult. I’m unsure if it’s because of the archaic structure and controls, but I’m slowly adapting. Hopefully, it won’t be as oppressive as I dive deeper into the story and acquire new gear.
I also hesitantly bought Tekken 8. I love fighting games, but I am not good at them. At all. In fact, I have bought two fighting games in the last decade — King of Fighters XV and Street Fighter 6 — and I’ve only played two hours combined, respectively.
But damnit, I am determined to put some genuine time into Tekken 8. There is always a nostalgic factor that comes into play when it comes to fighting games. I grew up with the Tekken franchise during the PS2 era, and I fondly remember having my best friend over as we played for hours on end.
There are other games that fall into this category that I’ll always have a soft spot for even if I know I’ll rarely give them the time of day now. Some of those titles are: Dynasty Warriors, particularly 4; Katamari Damacy; Burnout; and Red Faction 2 to name a few.
So, who knows? My hope is that using the PlayStation Portal will enhance my desire to play Tekken 8 more frequently. It seems to be the perfect game to play as I watch the NBA, or whatever my wife is binging at the moment. I’ll let everyone know where I’m at next weekend, ha.
Really getting into Way of the hunter. It's graphics are ok and it's performance is quite bad (water not being there despite hearing it and water floating about 2 feet above the ground) but it's quite addictive. I like slow paced stealthy games I can spend hours doing almost nothing (Assassin's Creed, Sniper Elite etc.)
@ErrantRob Thanks for your reply!
I enjoyed TLF, but probably marked it down a bit due to being spoilt by Blasphemous 2 a few months prior... (If you've not played B2, you'll probably love it if you enjoyed TLF)
Nice to hear that LotF landed with you, as the critical/fanbase reception was incredibly mixed. Lies of P seemed to have been met with unanimous praise, and rightly so(!), but Lords didn't seems to do so well.
How would you rank Lords among the sea of Souls-like game currently in the market? I'm definitely intrigued, but maybe leaning more towards Grime.... although Lords is currently on sale via Steam!
Finishing up Jedi Survivor and really enjoying mopping up all the collectibles. Then it’s back to Armored Core VI, and then need to finally finish Elden Ring in preparation for the DLC. Also hoping to do another quick play through of FF7R before Rebirth comes out. And God of War Ragnarok is just sittin’ there unopened. Good lord…
I'll be up to some old tricks with the gang in LaD Infinite Wealth and smiting foes as my oathbreaker paladin in Baldur's Gate 3.
For me it’s infinite wealth on chapter 3 also bought tekken 8 so need to check that out I’ll probly get to chapter 5 then play a bit of tekken and then go back to infinite wealth
I just bought Steam deck oled. Gosh, such an amazing pc handheld, love it so much.Enjoying dave the diver, arkham origins and disco elysium for now. While for ps5 im addicted to borderlands 3,almost finish the main story and going to play all the dlc later.
I’m in between games right now and while there are a handful of games I want to play, I just can’t bring myself to buy any of them at full price. I’m hoping the eventual sale that will start on February 1st will have a few of what I’m looking at in it. Until then I might just take a break. I will be watching my Lions tomorrow night though and hope they can punch their ticket to a franchise first Super Bowl!
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Slowly progressing through this. I'm at the halfway point at this time.
Real Soccer 2013 (Windows Phone) - I feel I've had my fill with this for now. I may move onto something else.
Angry Birds Rio (Windows Phone) - Last leg of the journey. Then delete it and move onto another game.
Playing the first Like a Dragon game on game pass along with Sea of Stars on the Steam Deck. Also whenever I have some free time I dip into Street fighter 6, Gran Turismo 7 and Mario Wonder. Been really impressed with Like a Dragon so far and looking forward to continuing the series in the future.
Time Crisis 2
Almost finished the platinum on Bloodstained Ritual Of The Night then probably doing Castlevania Requiem Symphony Of The Night & Rondo Of Blood next.i am Jumping back and forth between my PS4 Pro & PS5 to work on my backlog I have loads of PS4 era games & new games to get through, and the amount of new games i need to get through. Spend a few months on PS4 Pro & a few months on PS5 etc. I want to go back to play Arkham Asylum, City & Arkham Knight & Bioshock, Bioshock 2 & infinite on my XSX for the Achievements, so of the best games ever made. Also Castlevania Lord's Of Shadows definitely 100% Achievement that to at some point. I wish they would remaster or remake Castlevania Lord's Of Shadows.
Demons souls a remake and baldurs gate 3. I’m over 100 hours into bg3 and man I am ready for it to be over
Tekken 8! Have a great weekend folks 😄🤘
Classic tomb raider games, currently on tr2
Still playing lost judgment, i should go to gaiden and ishin next and so then to infinity wealth ( already bouth). I think i will play some yakuza/like a dragon for the next few months kkkkk
@KilloWertz it turns out Bruce Willis was dead all along...
Enjoy Cyberpunk! Phantom Liberty easily sits on the pantheon of greatest expansions.
Just got Tekken 8. So can’t wait to test those visuals 😍😍
This morning I finished Lost In Random. What an awesome game. If you like exploration/adventure games and card battlers, you should check this out. Random just oozes charm and atmosphere.
Tonight: Dead Space Remake. I haven’t played Dead Space since it was released, so I can’t wait. I made the mistake of starting the original when I was home sick with the flu, and a few times my heart was racing so fast I thought the game was actually going to kill me. 😃
I want to play Infinite Wealth, but I promised myself I would finish the main series entries first. And I am only on Yakuza 5.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
@amatmulisha I have Disco Elysium on Switch and PS5 but annoyingly the Switch version has quite a few graphical cutbacks and while the PS version is stunning, I just wanna be able to play it in bed 😌 games like that fit handheld so well... might have to get an OLED Steam Deck now 😬 (I'm looking for any excuse)
Disco Elysium tho 👌 near perfect game.
@Loamy im playing disco elysium on switch too before i bought the deck. The performance is kinda worse for me. So im stop playing after like 2 hours. Im havent start the game yet on deck. Just bought it on recent sale on steam. Im agreed with you,the game is so suited playing on handheld (not switch but deck). Trust me you gonna love the deck oled.
A dungeon crawler game called Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. That’s actually based off a Shonen Jump series. Other than that, Final Fantasy VII Remake.
@Loamy You son of a... I mean thanks.
I agree and it would probably be my GotY for 2023 if I was to consider DLC/expansions, but I have the same rule as others where it has to be a full game.
Playing enshrouded in early access. Got sucked into the hype even though I usually don’t like survival games. But I gotta say this is one of the best I’ve played. I’m enjoying even more than valhiem because of the npcs so it doesn’t feel as lonely and isolating (yes I know that’s kind of one of the main points of survival games 😜)
I'm replaying Prey (2017) on the PS5, focusing on a Typhon-only ability run. My first playthrough was a Human-only abilities, and I think using Typhon abilities makes the game a lot more fun.
I just started Infinifactory on PC. It's the current Free Game on the Epic Game Store. I've had it for ages on my PSN Wishlist, but it never went on sale (last on sale in 2018 IIRC). I'm really grateful that it was free, and that it can actually run on my budget laptop.
I think I'm close to finishing Cyberpunk, so once that's finished I can really start digging into Infinite Wealth.
I'm having a laugh (if that's the right word) taking it in turns with my brother playing through the PS5 version of "TLoU2" for the sake of my non-gaming sister-in-law who wants to know "what happens next" having been a fan of the HBO series. The writing in this game is beyond thudding - the TV adaptation can't be anything but an improvement.
Finished Lies of P earlier in the week and currently playing Streets of Rage 4 and Kingdoms of Amalur Re-reckoning.
Having a bit of nostalgia, playing The Last Guy on the PS3. Forgot how addictive it is.
I'm still playing catch up with WipEout Omega Collection, particularly the HD Fury campaign.
I,m all in a plague tale requiem. When done i'll start with TLOU2 remake. And still have to finish Spider man Miles Morales. That's quite tough when you're a father of 4, but it works out pretty well!
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be my answer for the foreseeable future
Playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake in anticipation for Rebirth and absolutely loving it!
I can´t stop playing Bloodborne! During the week finished DLC first and then platinumed the game and to be honest this is my first platinum trophy - I´m really proud of myself to achieve that. For me Bloodletting beast in chalice was much harder than Orphan of Kos. I´m on NG+ now but only speedrunning through the story bosses to enjoy how OP I am currently and trying different weapons etc. When done I really need to get back to my backlog finally...Separate Ways first, from ps+ downloaded Evil West and Calisto Protocol, if those two not for me I will maybe buy Dark Souls 3 or Lies of P...but if in the meantime DLC for Elden Ring comes out, then I´ll probably dive into that
Have a nice weekend, everyone!
Tekken 8 (PS5 version) will be my main focus and maybe some Like a Dragon Gaiden because I do want to get started on Infinite Wealth which I also bought recently. That said, I love Tekken 8's gameplay so much I don't see myself playing any other games during my day off today. It's an absolute blast and everything I wanted T7 to be on day one (became a great game over time but it wasn't very feature rich out of the gate).
MW2 multiplayer (domination) on PS5 & GTA V story on Asus ROG Ally
@HeavymetalGordon Well done! It took me about 3 years to beat the Orphan of Kos. Such a great game, really needs a remake or a 60FPS PS5 patch
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. First game I've bought in months but RGG never let me down.
@thefourfoldroot1 Just got to the finale of 4... It hasn't been terrible not by a longshot but it is definitely my least fave of the bunch so far. I'll be finishing it in the morning and then cracking on with 5.
Well uncharted 4 PS5 upgraded has downloaded.
And the fidelity setting is so good on a VRR 120hz tv.
Basically you get native 4K with an unlocked frame rate minimum 40fps, ok you think, but when you actually check the frame rate it goes from lowest 70fps to 115fps. You just can’t get much better at native 4K. it’s silky smooth at native 4K.
I know the TVs that can do this properly are a bit expensive at 65” but it’s so worth it.
Have done the same with HFW and GOWR and get the same great results.
Mario kart double dash is the best Mario kart. There I said it
Been craving some Rock Band goodness ever since trying out the disappointment of Fortnite Festival. So I’ll be dusting off my drums and guitar and reinstalling Rock Band 4 this weekend. Probably some Swordsman VR as well why I make my way through the main missions. If I get tired of those then I’ll probably chill with some Evil West as I’m enjoying that a lot.
This weekend is all about Tekken 8 and Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Sunday at midnight it's all about Suicide Squad and Granblue Fantasy Relink. They keep mentioning 2023 has being an amazing year for games but it looks like 2024 is going to be another one as well.
@Fishface45 I played the Granblue demo and it convinced me to buy it. I’ve never played one of these games before but it really impressed me.
Started Resident Evil Zero this morning. Haven't played it since it released on GameCube and I'm having quite a bit of fun with it. The only negative to me is no item box so I've got random crap scattered everywhere. Next it'll be RE Remake as I make my way through the series throughout the year. Happy Gaming Everyone
@Doctor_BK same here I was very impressed with what I've played so far
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game is absolutely wonderful so far. It’s so incredibly fun to play and already somehow feels like 2024’s hidden gem after seeing it rank sort of low in the sales rankings. While I still think Dread is the best Metroidvania of all time, The Lost Crown is definitely one of the better modern ones. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it and the more I think it may be Ubisoft’s best game since Assassin’s Creed 2, and potentially beyond that with its sights set on the studios highlight in The Sands of Time. It’s certainly exceeded all of my expectations and I’m truly enjoying it.
Aside from that, I should be booting up Tekken 8 soon enough. I’ll likely play some MK1 and SF6 for comparison as well, though I expect most real gaming time to go to Sargon’s journey. I’m hoping to play a bit of Jackbox with the family too.
@Doctor_BK Same for me. Never heard of it until like a week and half ago. In that time, I watched both seasons of the anime and the spin off series Grand Blues. I'm so ready for the game. Add me, my name is my Gamertag.
@Fishface45 haha that’s awesome. I’ll have to check those out
I’ve mainly been playing Palworld with a bit of TLOU No Return and Fortnite Festival. I finally got around to achieving ‘May your death be swift’ on my 4th attempt using Manny. I was so close to dying again with those devilishly fast clickers on my tail, but I just managed it somehow.
@TheArt It's the game that keeps on giving - I'm currently watching my son play, who has the platinum and is now on a 'no armor/fist weapons only' playthrough!
Finished up Trails To Azure last night. It went places I wasn't expecting! Next up is Cold Steel 1. I started the game about 10 months ago, getting about 10 hours in. I wasn't sure whether to restart, in order to enjoy some of the references I'll now understand back to the older games. Reading through the quest log I kind of feel caught up with where I left things, so I'm going to carry on from my save. The first game in a sub-series is usually more about setting up the new cast in any case, especially over the first hours. Looking forward to digging into the game. Slightly missing the art style of the earlier games though!
Other than Trails, Tekken 8. I'm more of a Street Fighter player really, but enjoying the game so far.
@trymer89 I have this also, and it is a fantastic pallete-cleanser. In a year full of big releases, Wonder seems to have got lost in the wash as 'just another serviceable Mario game'... but it really is quite excellent and fun. A little on the easy side, but thats to be expected with the territory I suppose... no one plays Mario for a rage-quit fix
PS4:
ESO
Star Wars republic commando
Tunic
PS5:
Star ocean second story
Sonic superstars
MGS2
God of war ragnarok
@CJD87 Hey, I like easy. New Super Mario Bros U was so tough I quit after World 1; I'm on World 3 and this is decidedly easier. I don't mind some challenge, but it should be gradual, not immediate.
Hanging out with Ichiban and Kiryu in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Loving it so far
I've been tempted back into GT7, there's some more things to do after 2 years away from it
@trymer89 Glad you're enjoying Wonder! It'll be interesting to see where the big N take the franchise with 'Switch 2'... I'd imagine another 3D entry maybe? Either way, sure it'll land well
With the EU’s new Digital Markets Act taking effect on March 7, 2024, will Xbox and PlayStation have to open up their boxes to third party downloads via browser because of the companies market cap size? Apple had to due to market cap size. Sony and Microsoft both offer apps on their boxes too like Netflix Disney plus etc. Obviously game pass and PlayStation plus would remain the same, but could Sony be forced in the EU to allow third party apps downloaded from a browser like game pass app? Or Xbox be forced in the EU to allow third party apps downloaded from a browser like PlayStation plus or epic games store?
Hmmmmmm alright here we go with another WAYP. Been a busy week in many many MANY ways. I would easily say that most of the week I feel you could best sum me up by a WWII solider covered in ash and soot and all that smoking a cigarette with the thousand yard stare. But enough of heavy stuff we here for gaming everyone. And boi do we have some gaming to do. Had a excellent first night with Tekken 8 last night that game is everything I wanted it to be and more it’s so much fun and I just couldn’t believe I’m playing it. Tonight I’m gonna do some more Another Code: Recollection as I really enjoyed starting it on my day off and then after that I’m gonna start Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Apparently the first couple hours are like nothing but cutscenes but they play like a J drama so hey I’m here for it. Can’t wait until we get to Hawaii the first time. Also ended up buying Under Night In Birth II Sys:Celes and the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass now that we have a date for Side:Order so I’ll be playing UNI2 on my day off this week and thanks to Splatoon I’m now motivated to tackle the remaining Expansions for my other Nintendo published games. I’ve done all of Fire Emblem Engage so that just leaves Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed and Pokemon Scarlet The Teal Mask. That’s my long term like do it before the end of the year goal. And of course the Splatoon 3 one when it comes out too. Also got a digital copy of Granblue Fantasy Relink downloaded and ready to go so Wednesday might be a double whammy of new games on my day off of UNI2 and Granblue. And of course as we head into February my two hype titles of the month are coming that being Mario VS Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Not my two most hype titles of the year so far that would be Rebirth and Princess Peach Showtime. Feels good to feel good with all these new games. On the anime front you already know having watched all the winter shows I have some really good picks. Urusei Yatsura, Shangri La Frontier, Frieren, High Card, A Sign Of Affection, Solo Leveling, Mashle and many more but those are just the stand outs and just absolutely excellent. Podcasts of the week are the usual: Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Nextlander, Minnmax, Remap Radio, Sacred Symbols and Summon Sign from Last Stand Media, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast and Windbreaker and Firelink from the lovely fellas over at Second Wind. And of course a weekly WAYP ain’t complete without a shoutout to my good friend over at twitch.tv/akibread. Excellent stoner catgirl with excellent choices in games like infinite wealth and in wrestlers. As always yall be good to each other and stay safe and have fun. Have a great weekend. And Happy Gaming.
Playing through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade before Rebirth lands next month. FF7 is one of my earliest and fondest gaming memories so belatedly started Remake with caution... however I'm loving it so far! In between saving the planet as Cloud and co a bit of MLB The Show 23. Have a good week all!
Just platinumed Hellblade and am now continuing my run through of Ninja Theory's back catalog with a play through of Heavenly Sword on PS Plus. I will be getting the platinum for Enslaved after that. Also, working on the platinum for The Order: 1886. My god, does that game still look good in 2024.
@CJD87 sorry for the late reply! It’s definitely Dark Souls 4, the design and atmosphere are awesome. It does suffer from enemy variety and combat takes a moment to click. However, as long as you’re not chasing the platinum I think it’s a solid 8/10 for those who enjoy all types of Souls games. Like Lies of P it shines if you don’t compare it to what has come before.
@ErrantRob Thanks, think I'm convinced! I've too heard the Platinum grind is horrendous..... shame though, as the Lies of P platinum is a pleasure, can be done in 2 playthroughs if you scum and genuinely pretty fun.
Thanks again
