Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 511 1

While 2024 has only just got started, we’re very much in the calm before the storm right now. There’s an avalanche of PS5 and PS4 software on the way, starting with Prince of Persia: Lost Crown next week, and followed by heavy hitters Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This is your last chance to clear your backlog, then.

Ahead of our embargo next week, I'll be spending a lot of time with The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered this weekend! I can't say anymore than that, so stay tuned for now!

It's back to Baldur's Gate 3 for me this weekend. I have finally reached Act 3 of the game and have been loving every second playing as a Bard. Just recently I rolled a 40 with all of my modifiers on a deception check and convinced someone I was a new member of a circus regime. This game is awesome!

Early January is a notoriously quiet part of the gaming calendar, which is a good excuse to return to 1998's PS1 Ridge Racer Type 4, because racing along to its upbeat soundtrack will brighten up these dark winter nights.

A buddy and I have made the terrible decision to chase the Honour Mode Trophy in Baldur's Gate 3. Essentially Ironman mode, a single mistake means the end of the attempt, and playing it this way is incredibly good fun in co-op. The stakes are so high, and when the dice gods inevitably turn their backs, you're forced to scramble to survive. The early game's the worst; just have to persevere!

I'm unlikely to get much gaming time this weekend, but I'm probably going to reserve any opportunities I do have to catching up in Genshin Impact. After over a year, folks, I'm getting closer to being up to date on the story.

Most of my game time this weekend will be reviews-related. I'll be giving Toy Trains VR a look, but the main event is Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy. My thoughts on both will be coming soon.

That’s everything we’re playing this weekend, then, but what about the rest of you? What’s keeping you busy this fine January? As always, let us know in the comments section below.
