@Th3solution well maybe if SM1 released NG+ when the game came out the numbers could’ve been higher . like i mentioned in my initial post , i can’t even be bothered anymore to play NG+ as i’ve lost almost all interest, id come back if they ever release DLC.

@nomither6 Ahaha, I knew I'd get put in the spot for that. 😅
Um, keeping it within the realm of games, I have definitely replayed things but never back to back. It happened more when I was young and had more time but we're going back to the 90's here.

In modern times, for me that's probably PS3 onward, games are very much a one and done experience and I certainly don't feel as though I haven't gotten value for money even if something only takes me say, 10 hours. Provided I enjoy it, of course!

It's honestly just a feature of almost zero worth to me, that's just my personal view! For those that do want it though, I sincerely hope more games add it in, I mean why wouldn't developers want gamers to spend more time with their product?

In answer to a couple of other things you mention, I have seen some movies and shows more than once but there's no NG+ type feature that changes the experience so I'm not sure what the relevance is?

Also, multiplayer. I've played it but I don't have PS+ so not lately. However, it's really about what's featured at launch and developer/publisher transparency. Hopefully a company may lead me to believe that it's either the finished product or something may be coming later, I don't just hope for features blindly and I really don't get hung up on these things either. Games just aren't that important to me.

In the case of Sony however, they're completely useless at user base communication so I definitely have sympathy for your misgivings regarding Spiderman 2. Even though it's a game I'll probably never play given I couldn't even complete the first one, I hope that they add some additional content and features for the fans that want them.

@Korra I'm the same with replaying games, I very rarely if even ever do that.

I even stopped a second play through of Miles Morales after about hour, as I was getting a bit bored having only just experienced the game. And I would rather my memory of the game be a positive one, rather than be dragged down due replaying a game.

I get everyone will different with this, but the clamour for something like NG+ is ridiculous. It just proves some don't really understand game development and appreciate how much work goes into these games.

I think it is a generational/society thing, as we expect and want everything dumped on us all at once.

I’m not understanding how being disappointed correlates with not empathizing for game employees. just because game development is difficult, and takes a militia of people exerting strenuous coding brainpower and talent with all of them working on different segments of the game, making adjustments to the base-game so that new game plus doesn’t override or interfere with the stories intentional progression, or cause any game breaking bugs or crashes , couple that with the extra financial costs…..this means that people aren’t allowed to be underwhelmed? is the skill, time, & other corporate related things some sort of barrier against customer satisfaction? it’s a job, we’ve all had to meet a quota before irregardless of our situations or we get benched; at the end of the day, these people are getting paid and most likely are well treated at a place like insomniac. i don’t think they’re worrying about any “post-criticisms” of a game they got paid already for too much (if they even care at all), since it’s a job for them first and foremost that theyve been paid for & i doubt they’d do it for free no matter how hard it is, or how talented and hardworking they are. i also doubt any of them are losing sleep thinking about what gamers think of the game right now.

presuming such a thing is pretty bias.

It’s an expectation thing; as games & other mediums evolve so do people standards and rightfully so.

@nomither6 I guess you have only seen that Insomniac has recieved threats over the very thing that you are 'expecting' they should have delivered by now? They also had their personal details revealed in the hack last year. They may well be well paid and work in nice conditions, but that doesn't help much if anyone was affected mentally by those things,

Of course, none of that excuses them from criticism, I don't think anyone is saying that. But when Insomniac have confirmed that they are are working on a NG+ with a significant update, and it was supposed drop late year, I fail to see what the problem is? Maybe have a bit more patience? If they had said nothing, I would maybe understand a bit more where you are coming from.

People demanding everything is done now now now, especially in light of recent events just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and gives of the impression that they have a total lack of empathy and an understanding what is actually happening.

@JohnnyShoulder they said NG+ was dropping before the end of 2023…

i was patient then. i don’t think it’s wrong to start getting impatient at this point…doesn’t mean i have to send death threats or interfere with their lives either though

@nomither6 And in December they said it was going to be early 2024. I truly don't get your point. It was planned for December and due to different circumstances (some we might know about, some we don't), it was delayed.

There's truly nothing to be impatient about. They've been transparent about it, and have only delayed it once.

You might have a point if they hadn't communicated at all, if they hadn't been hacked, if their employer data wasn't leaked to the public, if they have broken promises in the past, or if they were known for large delays, or if the studio wasn't at risk of a restructuring/layoffs, or if they hadn't been delivering the best PS5 support by any PS Studio.

But all this isn't the case. This is a company that has decided to delay a free piece of post-launch DLC, facing all above named difficulties, and you are impatient with them? Touch grass.

But I did look at the trophy numbers (just based on looking at my own trophy list, so there’s no deep dive into any greater analytics , mind) for Spider-Man 1, the completion rate for the game appears to be 49% (as represented by the trophy called “End Game”) and the completion rate for “One More Time” (for completing NG+) is 4.9%. Ironic how the numbers worked out perfectly, but even my poor math can calculate that’s 10% of the people who finish the game do NG+. That’s actually higher than I expected, but is still quite low, all things considered.
Miles Morales has similar numbers. Completion rate appears to be 47.7% by trophy data and NG+ completion rate is 9.0%. It’s a higher rate by almost double than SM1, and I suspect it’s because it’s a shorter game and also because it was required to do NG+ for the platinum. (Although the platinum rate is 6.2%, so roughly 3% of people who played NG+ did it solely for the experience and didn’t bother to get the platinum).

I think you've kinda answered your own question at the end there, because NG+ full completion rate won't necessarily correspond with NG+ engagement. There'll be those who started a NG+ run to mess around with certain features, or who simply wanted to replay their favourite part of the game with different skills / suits, who didn't then continue to see the credits roll and pop the trophy. And sure, there'll also be folks like @JohnnyShoulder who start NG+ out of curiosity before realising it's not for them, but my point is still that trophy percentages only paint a portion of the picture.

But it's still interesting data to see, and that 49% to 4.9% ratio pleases my OCD no end, so please don't take this as me unloading both barrels on your perspective!

@RogerRoger Yes, very true and the thought occurred to me that not everyone who plays NG+ completes it — Like when I played the first boss in Dark Souls just to have that rush of beating it down whilst overpowered.

And as luck would have it, I’m seriously contemplating doing an NG+ run in A Plague Tale: Requiem which I just completed because it’s required for a couple trophies for the platinum. Sitting at 92% completion is grating on me. 😅

Frankly, I'm still disappointed that when playing as Miles Morales there isn't a button to press to play 'Whats Up Danger' song from Across the Spiderverse so i can do some bad ass slow motion flips.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

I will definitely be checking out new game plus in Spider-Man 2 when it drops. People are way too impatient, and like others have mentioned Insomniac had the hack last month. I've been enjoying the heck out of God of War valhalla, as well as jumping into my first New Game Plus in ragnarok.
