Review Shadow of the Beast (PS4)
Adios, Amiga
Of the numerous reboots, remakes, and remasters this generation has brought us, this one may just be the most drastic. Originally released in 1989 on the Commodore Amiga, Shadow of the Beast was well received and lauded for its mind-blowing visual fidelity. Heavy Spectrum's modern take on the hard-as-nails classic has been a long time...

Retail rampage
The stream of early 2016 exclusives on the PlayStation 4 won't end with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, because Shadow of the Beast is coming out in a couple of weeks. If you're one of those people that prefers purchasing Blu-rays rather than digital downloads, though, you may want to import a boxed copy of the brutal remake from Asia,...
News Shadow of the Beast Finally Skewers a PS4 Release Date
About bloody time
Shadow of the Beast has been in release date limbo for as long as we can remember, but Sony's finally got one nailed - and the good news is that it's not too far away. From what we've seen of it, the revived hack and slasher looks great, so really, the only thing that's been missing from this blood-fuelled action title has been a...
Rumour Shadow of the Beast Holds Back the Blood as PS4 Exclusive Is Delayed
Bloody hell
One title that we've quietly been looking forward to for quite a while now is Shadow of the Beast, which was supposed to be launching near the end of this month, on the 27th January – but according to the PlayStation Store, as spotted by VideoGamer, the hack and slasher has been delayed until the 2nd March. Of course, there's been no...

Feeling a little spiky
Sony's upcoming Shadow of the Beast reboot may have been in development for approximately 8,000 years, but it's really shaping up. This brand new trailer released to coincide with Paris Games Week shows some colourful new locales and more bloody murder than you can shake a pointy fist at. The game's available to pre-order now...
First Impressions Shadow of the Beast Is Bloody Brilliant on PS4
Stepping out of the shadows
One of the quieter demo stations that we saw this year at EGX was for the reboot of eighties gaming classic, Shadow of the Beast. Now, this wasn't much of a surprise, especially since its announcement a couple of years ago at Gamescom was met with a resounding "huh, never heard of it" from anyone under the age of...
News Shadow of the Beast's PS4 Reboot Gets Its Claws Out
Have a slash
Shadow of the Beast is back, and it's packing more gore than a Hostel movie. Sony's long awaited reboot of the Psygnosis classic was announced over 18 months ago at GamesCom 2013, but has been kept undercover ever since. Many assumed that it had been cancelled, but developer Heavy Spectrum has been busy beavering away on it behind...
News Sony's Showing Shadow of the Beast in London Today
Alienation also on display
One game that we often get queried about here on Push Square is Shadow of the Beast: has it been cancelled? Heavy Spectrum's take on Psygnosis' classic is hotly anticipated among some of our older readers, and for good reason – the original Reflections releases were among some of the most visually impressive for their...
News Don't Worry, PS4 Reboot Shadow of the Beast Still Exists
Shining a light
Those of you with particularly potent memories may recall Shadow of the Beast being announced for the PlayStation 4 at Gamescom last year. However, it’s been a long time since we last heard a peep out of developer Heavy Spectrum, so what’s going on? Creative director Matt Birch didn’t give an enormous update on the title at...
GamesCom 2013 So, Shadow of the Beast Is Making a Comeback
Altered beast
One of the more unexpected announcements during Sony’s big GamesCom 2013 press conference this week revolved around Heavy Spectrum’s reimagining of Shadow of the Beast. As a refresher for our younger readers, the original release was a side-scrolling brawler deployed almost 25 years ago on the Commodore Amiga. It was developed by...

I really do hope shadow becomes a 9/10 10/10 game with heaps of imagination because there is room for this game to be great. I am just thinking of the possibilities and potential it has . I hope the controls are unique and agile and the hope that the game grows as you go along.
