Rumour: Sonic Generations May Make a Comeback During Sony's State of Play 1

Of the modern-era Sonic games, a handful are generally favoured by fans, and Sonic Generations is certainly one of them. Released to celebrate the SEGA mascot's 20th anniversary, the PS3 game combines the usual 3D stages with throwback side-scrolling levels, revisiting various zones from previous entries. It's thought to be one of the best-playing 3D titles, but access to the game is limited — especially if you're only rocking a PS4 or PS5. That may be about to change, however, if we're to believe the current rumour mill.

This stems from a tweet by XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker, in which he hints at several games making an appearance during the imminent State of Play presentation. The phrase "Sonic will live in the shadow of his generation" has got fans of the blue blur all aflutter:

Further to this, another X user, "video game researcher" Kurakasis, claims the game will be named Sonic x Shadow Generations.

It's always easy to hand-wave rumours like this, but Baker has been proven right before, so it's quite likely we'll be seeing some Sonic when the State of Play lands. Either way, it's not long until we find out for sure.
