2024 is upon us, and off the back of an amazing array of games in 2023, this year is serving up a lot of new releases over the next few months. Indeed, the period we're categorising as 'early 2024' (from now until the end of April) is packed with PS5 titles, and we want to know how you'll be spending your hard-earned money.
Now, without being overly dismissive of everything else, it's clear that there are a handful of standout games on display. The likes of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma 2, Persona 3 Reload, Tekken 8, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and — despite the controversy — Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League immediately catch the eye. But there are also so many 'smaller' releases squeezed in between the heavy hitters that it's honestly hard to keep track.
So, without further ado, vote in our poll, and then reveal your gaming plans for early 2024 in the comments section below.

Probably none of them tbh. I'm dedicating q1 2024 to my backlog.
@LifeGirl I’m constantly dedicated to my backlog tbh… doesn’t stop me picking up more new games than I’m actually clearing though 😅
TloU: No Return
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Helldivers 2
FF VII Rebirth
Unicorn Overlord
Rise of the Ronin
Dragon's Dogma II
Trying so hard to play fewer games.
Warms the cockles of my heart to see people voting for Helldivers2 … let’s go!
Have a lot I’d like to buy but of course some decisions are going to have to be made. Oddly enough, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is pretty high up on my list, followed by Rise of the Ronin. After that it’s not a matter of if but when I’ll get to the likes of Dragons Dogma, Final Fantasy, Prince of Persia…
As always, I'll be waiting for a good sales to do any buying, but of all these games, Granblue Fantasy Relink and Dragon's Dogma 2 are the ones I'm the most optimistic about.
I'll also keep an eye on Rise of the Ronin and Pacific Drive...
i did not find the "None" button...
FF7 and Tekken for sure. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is practically certain. Pacific Drive and Ultros, I really want. If the new Momodora game comes out on PS instead of just Steam, definitely that one. Slave Zero X looks fantastic as well.
Banishers and Prince of Persia are maybes for me. Maybe Rise of the Robin… sort of depends on how much like Team Ninja’s other games it is. I want to be interested in it since I like the historical setting of it, but eh Team Ninja games and I don’t usually get along.
There's actually very few games coming out in Q1 that I'm interested in, and those that I am I can wait for the inevitable sale or price drop. Besides, I have way too many games in my backlog I want to play and a few games that have DLC's coming out that I'll have access to as part of their Season Pass (Remnant 2, Atomic Heart). So, I won't be buying anything new and at full price........... which I rarely ever do anymore anyways.
Only one I am interested in buying day 1 is Ronin, please don't make it casual friendly, and keep to your roots team ninja
Like a dragon is a definite and I am becoming more interested in Prince of Persia. Just noticed Rise of Ronin and Dragons Dogma release very close to my birthday as well soooooooo 🥳
Just Final Fantasy VII. Video games shouldn’t be stressful so I’m only going to play what I have time for and not rush myself through something I’m legitimately excited for just to get to the next thing or be “part of the conversation.”
At least 8 titles there I want to buy. Thats why I always have a backlog and a 'pile of shame' (titles I bought but never got round to playing).
Ive been doing the above for 40+ years now, even in the early days when releases were so much fewer and I had to import most from Japan. Theres little hope Im going to be sensible now! 🤣
Bulletstorm VR pls
Only day one would be Rise of the Ronin depending on how it looks and runs. If the hype confirms it is fantastic then I'll be there sharpish. No need to pre order, as games can be bought in an instant if they deliver on that sweet sweet hype
The rest will be back catalogue as usual, and the pickings are grand and plentiful. This is the way
Can I just vote Dragons Dogma 2 40 times?
More people buying TLOU II remake than Dragon's Dogma 2? 🤦 (Not to dis the remake as for £10 that's a steal!)
@Splat I was about to write the exact same comment 🤣
Tekken 8 and FF7 rebirth are my priorities the rest can wait
@LifeGirl I’m still dedicated to finishing games that came out 4-5 years ago lol. Just about to finish Cyberpunk finally trophy wise
FFVII Rebirth is the only definite for me. Prince of Persia, Dark Forces, and Unicorn Overlord are all maybes.
Like a dragon infinite wealth.persona 2 reload.final fantasy 7 rebirth.dragon dogma 2.rise of the ronin.granblue fantasy relink and unicorn overlord is the games on that list that is really exciting.word up son
Tomb Raider remasters for me. I'd like to eventually play Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, though I've still got other games in that series to play through before worrying about getting the latest one.
Picking up Tekken 8 day one😁 The others don't interest me.
Already made my first purchase when i pre-ordered Tekken 8 today.
Lad 8 (so stoked for this one!!) , FfviiR, Alone in the dark (I hope it's not the nostalgia talking) and Persona 3R are day one for me.
I might get Rise of the Ronin if it it has very easy/casual mode too.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Dragons Dogma 2 and GranBlue Fantasy: Relink are a maybe for me
Zero interest in any of these, which is good for my wallet and my backlog.
Do you mean buying ever or buying at release? I never buy anything at release, but I will be getting Rebirth and Infinite Wealth from that list.
I’ll also be getting a couple of PSVR2 games, but you’ve obviously used your embarrassingly incomplete PSVR2 release “guide” to fill in this list, so you don’t know about them.
I already bought the ones I wanted but they are:
1. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
2. Persona 3 Reload
3. FF7 Rebirth
Day 1: FF7R, DD2, Rise of the Ronin
Try to get day 1 or as soon as possible: Trails of Cold Steel 3&4, Granblue, Persona 3
Some day I'll get to it: Unicorn Overlord, Eiyuden Chronicles, Like a Dragon 8,
PS5 is firing on all cylinders. Amazing.
Still in doubt bout Ronin and Helldivers 2. Rest im interested in ill buy in a sale.
Ive already got Like a Dragon, Persona 3, and Final Fantasy Rebirth preordered. I'll get Tekken 8, Prince of Persia, Dragons Dogma, granblue, and Rise of the Ronin at some point depending on reviews and sale
I'm skipping persona 3 reload I'm a lil burnt out on that series after all of 5s games than p3p and p4 so I'm good
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is still on my "when, not if" shortlist, pending reviews, but in terms of guaranteed insta-buys, it's Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and Star Wars: Dark Forces for me (along with the PS1's Episode I: The Phantom Menace whenever it gets itself added to the PS Store).
Nothing else holds much personal appeal, but I really hope everybody enjoys whatever they end up getting!
Very few of them Day 1 as games are in their worst state, especially AAAs, happy to wait for patches. But I’ll probably get:
That’s it. Everything else I would likely wait for patches or a sale.
I really like the look of The Plucky Squire. I'll get Prince of Persia day one but I'll get it on the Switch. I know it won't look or perform as well but my Switch is basically my indie/2D machine.
@Jimmer-jammer Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a great game! I’m not sure I’ll play it again, and I have it for PS4 anyways, but highly recommend.
————————
For me it’s FF7R, DD2 and maybe Rise of the Ronin.
And is that Skull & Bones I see?! I thought that game would never come out. 😂 For as long as it’s been in development, there’s surprisingly little buzz about it.
Really hope tomb raider comes with new controls. The stress on PS1 was incredible.
Infinite Wealth, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Tomb Raider I - III Remastered are must buys for me. A lot of others I'll probably get in a sale sometime.
I've still got Alan Wake 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to pick up too.
Infinite Wealth, Persona 3, and FF7 are guaranteed.
Prince of Persia is also very likely. I just want to wait until I play the demo before I fully commit. Unicorn Overlord is also likely.
I have others I want too like Tekken 8 and Banishers but I gotta draw the line somewhere or else I'll go broke!
@Th3solution Yeah, it’s one of my favourites! To the point where I’ll shamelessly re-buy it 😂
Tomb Raider, on the PS4, and Dragon's Dogma 2 on The Tub o' Lard. That is all, for now at least.
only FF7!
i would be tempted with dragon dogma 2....but i probably will let it simmer until a patch fixes stuff
Already have FF7 Rebirth preordered. Will likely get Tekken 8 at some point in 2024 once my backlog is cleared out more.
Like a Dragon, Persona 3 and FF7 Rebirth for me.
Sticking to one game per month due to how much is coming out. LAD Infinite Wealth, FFVII Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin for me. Granblue Fantasy Relink, P3 Reload and Unicorn Overlord will be nabbed later on sale
Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 Reloaded, HellDivers 2, Pacific Drive, FF7 ReBirth, Rise of the Ronin, Dragons Dogma 2, Unicorn Overload, Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, Another Code R Recollection, Princess Peach Showtime, Trails of Cold Steel 3/4 and the KonoSuba Visual Novel.
All that in the space of 4 months is insane.
Tomb Raider I-III remasters if they review well and are not a lazy effort.
Ultros looks AWESOME 🔥
Don't own a PS5 and I was able to select 4 titles for the PS5 I want to play.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for me!
None of them really stand out to me as 'must haves/day 1' purchases at best and many there that really don't appeal to my tastes or what I personally would want to spend my time/money on.
I still have games I am enjoying and not yet finished and plenty of other games in my backlog to keep me in games until such a time as something 'new' appeals more than anything I can already play and so much so, I'll buy it when/near release...
Probably only The Last of Us Part II Remastered (never played the PS4 version) and Tekken 8, but when they are heavily discounted, since I already have a large backlog.
Really overhyping this slate of games on tap especially not being a fan of the cheese side of offerings from the East. Really all of them have the potential to be underwhelming. so, for me It's a wait until I can see their quality scenario, before I consider the big ones. Especially when it comes to Ronin and Dragons Dogma. Interested in Banishers and Pacific Drive though!
@Drago201
check out Metaphor: ReFantazio
It's not part of the SMT universe but it's done by the devs of Persona
Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor: ReFantazio and FF7 rebirth are my main pick ups but I'm defo focusing a lot on my backlog this year..
really wanna try the NieR series at some point so I wanna put some money aside for that too.
Where is the none because Christmas has left me stint option. Through I do have 45 quid in Amazon vouchers, so might by one of last year's games on there.
Expeditions: a mudrunner game. If the devs support that game as much as they have with snowrunner, il be set for a year at least.
Just noticed expeditions isn't even on the list! Why not?
@Hooder I was thinking about it hopefully it is different enough from the persona series
I have 3 games from Christmas, and most likely I won't have much time to play anything else.
I saw the preorder price for Rise of the Ronin. So, I guess I will be happy playing my other games till I see some reviews and discount on it. I guess it will take for a while 😀
Tekken 8, LaD 8 and FFVII Rebirth are still my only must buys, though considering how long it’s taking me to get through my current stuff, I’m fine keeping it like that.
I dont plan on buying anything until. Shady publishers release half baked garbage
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
Granblue Fantasy Re:Link
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Unicorn Overlord
Eiyuden Chronicles Hundreds Heroes
I will also get TLoU2 for the $10 upgrade I guess.
I wanted to get Dragon Dogma 2, but that was before I saw the gameplay videos. The game looks very bad visually, like a PS4 game.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Tekken 8
Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Persona 3 Reload
Helldivers 2
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Alone in the Dark
Rise of the Ronin
Dragon's Dogma 2
My backlog and Prince of Persia
Infinite Wealth and FFVII Rebirth for me. But there are several more games on this list I might buy down the line.
Rise of the Ronin, Dark Forces and Pacific Drive for me! Prince of Persia too but Pacific Drive is probably my most anticipated from that list!
FF VII Rebirth. Will also get the 10$ LOU part II upgrade. Will prob play P3R on xbox cause of game pass
Literally nothing for me unfortunately.. not an anime fan or a turn based fan.. not interested in Japanese/Chinese settings.. I’m sick of remakes and remasters.. fighting games have gotten boring (thanks MK1).. nothing left in my backlog.. glad my fellow gamers have something to look forward to though.. Wolverine and AC needs to come tf on
Tekken 8, Tomb Raider Collection, Final Fantasy Rebirth, and Dragon Dogma 2. That’s only 4 games but that is a lot for me. Not to mention I want the Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Collection. I’m burned out on Yakuza/Like a Dragon games but I might get that later on. And maybe that Princess Peach game on Switch.
@ShogunRok Missing Ultros (Feb. 13th) & The Outlast Trials (Mar. 5th) on this list and it appears Sons of the Forest is ending early access on February 22nd so probably headed to consoles.
None of them, still playing games from 2023 and I'm rarely paying full price (last time RDR 2).
Up to now the only "must buy" of the entire year for me is Final fantasy 7 rebirth, although of Star wars outlaws reviews well that will also be on there. Most of the other games I'll probably wait for a sale. I'm more than likely going to be buying Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's gate 3 in the early part of the year tol, as I never got round to those 2 last year
Final Fantasy is the only one I want to pick up day 1 full price.
Granblue Fantasy, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin all look interesting but I'll wait on reviews and until I'm done with FF.
The new Yakuza game looks really good but the last one is still on my backlog.
The users who voted South Park: Snow Day, please provide your reasoning and list the traumas you went through as a child.
@LordAinsley Love South Park, love co-op, and it’s only $40. I was in a boating accident when I was 7 and I’m blind in one eye 😜
@Simong85 If you can't find anything with these releases why even bother with a PS5?
Hi there fellow gamers.
Even though I shouldn´t get any other new game because my backlog is HUGE, I will probably be getting the following games:
Not entirely sure if I´m gonna get all of them day one (going to depend on some store deals in my Country), but will eventualy.
What a great and somewhat expensive start of a year this is.
Cheers and happy gaming everyone
Vertigo 2's release date has just been announced - January 15th. Please update the list. Nothing else matters. 🤘
