Mojang has announced that action strategy spin-off Minecraft Legends will receive no further updates, meaning there won't be any new content, Lost Legends, or Marketplace DLC coming to the game. It's a surprising announcement, considering the game only launched in April of last year. Minecraft itself remains the best-selling video game of all time, with more than 300 million copies sold, so you'd think there would be more interest.

The Minecraft maker revealed the news in a development update: "Since launch, we've listened to community feedback and implemented a series of changes and tweaks to improve the game. With that complete, we will take a step back from development."

Minecraft Legends wasn't a bad game; we just found it to be a bit shallow and repetitive, which is a problem that could have been solved. To its credit, along with Blackbird Interactive, Mojang implemented various updates in the interim, from gameplay tweaks to a more comprehensive Battle View UI. Lost Legends added a monthly challenge (the final one is Snow vs. Snouts).

Perhaps with some more meaningful content support, this particular experiment may have continued. Multiplayer will remain online for the foreseeable future, and as a parting gift, all players have been entrusted with the Bright-Eyed Hero skin pictured above.
