Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is now officially the fastest-selling entry in the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, having sold one million copies since its launch on 26th January 2024. To commemorate the achievement, RGG Studio will release a free in-game t-shirt set in the future.
You can see at least four of the four garments in the image below, which includes all of the main characters on a white print, a SEGA logo, and then Japanese writing. There'll be even more besides those four, all for free.
Having sold one million units in the space of a week, it's a reminder of just how far the series has come in a relatively short space of time. 2017's Yakuza 0 really put the franchise on the map for the western audience, and it's only gone from strength to strength since then. The days of Sony having to localise Yakuza 5 itself are very much over.
We awarded a 9/10 rating in our Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth PS5 review, sharing high praise for its story, improved turn-based combat, and vast amount of side content. "There's more to see and do than ever before, the turn-based combat has gone up a gear, and the entire experience has a visual shine that makes it the best-looking game in the series. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the best Yakuza game ever made. No ifs, no buts: you absolutely have to play this."

This game will bring Infinite Wealth to Sega. I'll see myself out.
Playing it now and loving it. Would love to know the sales split for this and Persona 3 please SEGA
I've been a series fan since the beginning but I'm not really enjoying this one as much. I'll probably just bludgeon my way through the story and be done with it if it doesn't grow on me.
Despite my personal misgivings, I'm glad it's bringing Sega good numbers.
Really pleased the series is selling well. I still like the origional style better. Despite the open area nature of them they were still pretty linear, story moved thick and fast keeping you engaged and you never really felt underpowered. Once again, in IW , just like in LaD ive hit a point where im being told i need to be wearing 2 star gear and ive only got 1 star gear on and hardly any cash to buy better gear. Money seems to harder to earn too with street battles earning hardly anything. Either im completely missing the best way to progress through this game or they want me to grind battles to be able to afford better armour/weapons. Its a shame as i loved it to begin with until i hit this wall. If im missing something someone please tell me.
@Kidfunkadelic83 i'm still early doors so not hit the money wall yet, but there is usually a sub activity that can be used to farm money.
IGN published a guide on the fasteat ways to earn money which may help?
https://www.ign.com/wikis/like-a-dragon-infinite-wealth/How_To_Farm_Money
@Czar_Khastik nah man, stick around for the encore!
Itโs hid behind a pay-wall with NG+!
@Kidfunkadelic83
I've found that the Sujimon side quest has helped me get the funds needed to buy some decent gear. There are also types of gear that increase the amount of money earned from battle though I honestly can't remember where I got some of them.
Also as you are walking around town make sure you got some dog food handy to give to some of the dogs that are standing around looking to be friends. They usually give you a silver plate if you max out the friendship bar. Then you can take those to the pawn shop to sell for a decent penny.
Hope these tips help a bit! I have been absolutely hooked since launch. Congrats on the success RGG!
@CharlieChooChoo Ah yes, I forgot about that. Let's just hope Infinite Wealth 2 won't have NG without the + behind a paywall.
@Kidfunkadelic83 the quest to upgrade your bat shouldve made it 2 star ,do a couple of runs in the labyrinth ,there's some cool stuff down there ,don't forget to sell all your crap at the pawn shops
Playing too much Sujimon. Gotta catch them all, then force them into battle. Canโt seem to catch a sewer cap guy.
Congrats to this game. I kinda got burned out on the series as of late but I do want to try to get back in it.
@Czar_Khastik itโd be great if the next LaD went in the opposite direction.
Like a Dragon: Foodstamps and Welfare.
@Mephisto2869 whats the labyrinth mate? Not come across that yet so i dont know if im that far.
@Korgon very much appreciate the tips buddy. Just unlocked Sujimon so i will give that a look in to. Spent an hour delivering ๐and ๐ before i realised i was earning points and not cash ๐๐
@Kidfunkadelic83 think you get to it chapter 4 or 5 ,I'd recommend level 20 before you go in though, its like the sewersin the first game, don't forget to level up your relationships with your party for tag team moves and some specials.
Well deserved, been playing it as much as I can the last week and it's an excellent experience that deserves the sales. You know the game is good when the biggest complaint you see is NG+ locked behind a paywall
Ended up getting randomly gifted this by my Mum as a thanks for helping her recently. Not a huge fan of the series but i must say i'm really enjoying this one, its really clicked with me in the way the others haven't.
@CharlieChooChoo that's literally the previous game though...
Loving it thus far. Shame all these games are coming out at same time. But i still find it funny that this is listed as doing awesome when on everything but switch, but FF16 which released soley on PS5 with 20 mil less consoles at the time sold 3.5x that in same period and people said flopped
@Kidfunkadelic83 You can get some fairly cheap 2 star gear in the shops roughly near where you started and then if you have some iron you can upgrade those pretty effectively at the workshop (I cheated and googled where to get the gear I wanted). They will definitely get you through the 2 star bit you are at and then you will unlock the labyrinth shortly after which someone else has mentioned as a good way to get cash and level up.
It is a bit stingy with the money early doors but I have found wandering around and doing the general activities as you go gives you some half decent gear. Whatโs her face at revolve gives you some pretty good stuff every time you hit an aloha links milestone which is pretty often.
@Korra
May I ask why? I loved them all apart from Ishin and maybe 4, which was just OK. Sad to hear fans might not find this as good as past iterations.
@DestructionAllstars my Ichiban was making money hand-over-fist.
No idea what youโre talking about.
@DennisReynolds very kind of your mum to do that, I wish mine supported my gaming habits ๐
@Kidfunkadelic83 I think the game encourages you to do some sides, some mini games, some crazy food, I am an got the level 2 gear without buying many things, and with 800$ cash in the pocket without farming battles.
Also remember selling plates
@CharlieChooChoo She has a lot of health issues so it was a thanks for me helping her a lot this past month. She doesn't normally do this though haha.
Glad it's doing well. I'm still very behind on this series, so it may be years before I get to this one.
Fantastic news.
@Korra I am in the same situation. I own every other game in the series and have really enjoyed them (especially 3 and 0) but I really struggled with the last two. Infinite wealth feels like such a slog in the first 5 hours, I honestly felt like I had barely done anything but watch cut scenes. I'll stick with it but this might be the last day one buy of the series for me.
Almost finished Yakuza 6... I'll be playing this soon!
N.i.c.e. its cool that like a dragon infinite wealth is the best selling game.well deserved.word up son
Congrats to the devs, but I'm a little confused but this series. What was the game that came out a few months ago, The Man Who Lost his Name? Was that a side story/smaller scale game?
I'm really glad I was introduced to the series with 0. I've been in love with it ever since. Glad to see Infinite Wealth receive a lot of success.
@pyrrhic_victory
Long story short, Yes, but here is the long story anyway...lol...
LaD Gaiden - The Man Who Erased His Name is a supplemental story and Gaiden literally translates to "side story". It's about long-time series protagonist and fan favorite Kazuma Kiryu and what he was up to after the events of Yakuza 6 and during the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and leading him towards the events of the current game.
Gaiden was smaller scale because it was to be a side story in Infinite Wealth but the story was so good and took on so much of its own life that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios decided to create a whole game out of it and release it just before Infinite Wealth.
Gaiden is also made using the Beat Em Up brawler-style fighting system like most of the other Yakuza games.
It's also very good but unless you are at least familiar with the lore of the series Gaiden will not have the same impact as it would on a more invested fan.
If I am missing anything please, everyone let me know.
@Czar_Khastik 10 points for this comment.
It's a brilliant game, well deserved.
Now please remake Dead Souls!
I have gotten to chapter 5 and really enjoying the game so far!
@thefourfoldroot1 It's purely subjective reasoning but it's almost too broad in activities for me and I'm only on chapter 3. I don't particularly enjoy the location of Hawaii either, I like the dark and rainy, more miserable Kamurocho weather. The story isn't really holding my attention so far either. Usually I'll play them beginning to end without touching another game but that's not the case this time. I really want to love it but it's just not happening for me so far.
