The legendary manga Hunter X Hunter, which has been running 25 years and remains notoriously unfinished, is getting a fighting game adaptation. While platforms are currently unconfirmed, it’s safe to assume that the Eighting developed three-on-three brawler will launch on PS5 and PS4, as there’s an enormous market for titles of this ilk on Sony’s systems.
Eighting famously collaborated with Capcom on Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, so it knows its way around the genre. Bushiroad Games has signed on as publisher, having already released a selection of niche titles worldwide. There’s no word on a target launch date, or indeed any more gameplay information, but the teaser trailer above should give you a taste of what to expect.

With Eighting at the helm, I'm confident this game will slap.
Should really get around to finishing HxH at one point in my life😂.
So many things, so little time...
Would be fitting for this franchise to get an unfinished game adaptation 😂
The thing is... HunterXHunter is not a fighting manga in the same way that One Piece or Naruto is. One of the central themes of the Nen system is risk v reward; putting penalties on yourself for greater power up to and including death. Nen is both dangerous and complicated to use in a way that other power sets are not.
If this can capture that sort of thing then fine, but I suspect that this is going to be just another fighting game that pays lip service to how the moves actually work in favour of flashy visuals.
An anime arena fighter, how original
@Lyedecker Nah its actually a 2D fighter. Eighting basically only makes 2D fighters and its bound to be a tag game.
@LifeGirl I haven't ever watched or read HunterxHunter but the way you make it sound makes it sound like it could be an actually cool mechanic for a fighter! Having a very powerful central mechanic that also leads to big risk reward situations makes it sound like its perfect for something like this
