Of all the things we expected to see during Sony’s CES 2024 presentation, Gravity Rush was probably bottom of the list. The cult cel-shaded superhero series from Japan Studio, which sees topsy-turvy protagonist Kat manipulating gravity in order to fly around its world, has been rumoured to be getting a live action adaptation for some time. And it was teased as part of a spotlight on TorchLight, a new creative suite from the Japanese manufacturer which allows filmmakers to try out new shots quickly.
The snippets of Gravity Rush look incredibly early, and they’re likely test shots designed to showcase how flexible the company’s new creative spaces can be. But the fact that it opted to spotlight the movie during a segment which also featured information on other upcoming PlayStation adaptations like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn confirms this is a real project in the works.

There was something about patapon as well.
That's awesome! GR is a really fun franchise that would make a really neat series or anime. Its a shame the franchise will likely never see another game in the current landscape of big budgets and huge sales projections
Of all Playstation's upcoming movies, this is the one I'm most curious about. I hope it turns out great. Gravity Rush is legitimately one of my favorite Playstation franchises. I still miss Japan Studio.
I hope this means that we could be seeing some remake/remaster for the PS5 and PC when this film actually gets released.
I think there's no better franchise to showcase this new tech, but I'm also hoping for a good movie, and that really isn't Sony Pictures forte.
I hope it ends up being decent. From the looks of it, I just hope it pays respect to the original source material given the possible new setting.
I don't even care if it's bad. I'ma support it and watch it in hopes there's even a slightest chance of a new game and if not at least more from the ip in other media. Cause it has too much potential to let it go to waste
As long as it's got that banger soundtrack I'm in.
hope the adaptation is a big success and the series is rebooted, I think it could be big if they tone down the sexualization just a little bit and make the story non nonsensical
i'm a fan of the games. very odd choice of making a movie for a dead franchise, though, unless they have plans of a third game? without studio japan, i don't see how that can happen. that said, i'm curious to see how it turns out. it would do well as an anime more so than live action.
I don't care about the movie, but I hope they bring back the game. I only played the 1st one on vita. I remember I was 1 trophy away from getting a platinum. But I couldn't get that one trophy.
Since they are going through the trouble of making an live-action adaptation they better give us a new GR game in the future...unless the new game would be a movie tie-in, in that case I pass, I prefer the original source material.
Anyway, hope the movie ends up decent atleast.
Well I did not see that cumming
I love Gravity Rush and hope this sparks new games/remakes/remasters.
Surprised to see this in today's CES. Pretty skeptical about the movie but I do hope this sparks some interest from Sony to greenlight any potential Gravity Rush 3 or at least remaster Gravity Rush 2
@Drago201
That's what she said!
I was kind of hopeful for this movie, but now we know for sure it's live action, I'm not so confident anymore. After success of anime movies in the west recently and even with Sony's Spiderverse movies, this seemed like a perfect chance to animate it. Still it's too early to judge so I'll wait and see where it leads. More than anything I hope somehow this leads to more Gravity Rush that isn't live action.
I'm gonna shed a tear 😢. Makes me happy to see Gravity rush not forgotton.
Gravity rush 2 is one of my favourite games ever made. An open world that feels alive and bursting with love in every single way
I wasn't expecting to see this. I agree with other peeps, I don't care if the movie is bad, I'll watch it and support the IP.
So explain to me again how this is supposed to "save Gravity Rush" when Sony shut down their Japan Studio and got rid of all the key people responsible?
I won't believe it's coming out until it's out, but this is a really cool surprise.
