The long-in-development, oft-delayed reboot of EA Sports College Football, which has been fervently anticipated by gridiron fans for years, could finally be unveiled this coming week – according to a report by 247Sports. The site claims “sources” have told it that new information about the title will be unveiled during Michigan’s championship match against Washington in Houston on Monday, 8th January.
The game doesn’t have an official release date, but is allegedly due out this summer on PS5, so we can’t think of a better time for the publisher to fully peel back the curtain on the long-awaited project. Development of this game has been conducted separately to the annual Madden NFL series, so many fans are hoping it represents something of a reboot for the genre’s tried and trusted gameplay. It’s also expected to capture all of the unique pageantry of college football, which should help set it apart from its pro football peers.

I would ask 2K to get back into the NCAA mix, but then they would start selling all of the Oregon Ducks different uniforms, and it would break the system.
I would ask for Fight Night to come back, but they do not care.
I wonder if they'll be able to "capture all of the unique pageantry of college football" by having 80% of the players enter the transfer portal and sit out their bowl games every season in Franchise mode...
American football fans, in case anyone is confused because there is a difference. I'm a football fan and I am not waiting for this update.
@riceNpea Not a single person was confused. A picture of a college QB throwing a football made it pretty clear.
@Splat he's throwing an American football. See, it's confusing 😂
@riceNpea Maybe if you stopped reading the headline after the first 2 words. But for those of us who read the entire thing, understand contextual clues like - oh, I dunno - the rest of the words OR the giant image below it... Nah. We weren't confused.
Fairly excited for it. Massive college football fan living in the heart of the BigTen. Not crossing my fingers it’s going to be spectacular, but hopefully the product is decent and finished at launch.
I still dig out the PS3 to play the old ones. cant wait for this one, i just hope EA actually focuses on quality game and not just what they have done to madden. Heres hoping they atleast put effort into the first one to try and get their hooks into players lil
@MFTWrecks you say maybe? So there's a chance of confusion? 😂👍
N.i.c.e. word up son
@Splat i don’t think many people care about boxing , i believe most people only watch notable names fight and don’t know much about the sport, so the games didn’t sell as much
it’s just my theory, but yeah , i want another fight night too. idc about college football
@nomither6 Yeah. The UFC games took it's place. I'm not a fan, but I get it.
It shouldn't be called football - there I said what most people in Europe are thinking.
@Darylb88 I’m European and I disagree. It’s a stupid arguement that people like to make on EVERY article about a sport they know nothing about.
Football is played with your feet not your hands.
@Stocksy I know it's not football, it's American football 😂
@Stocksy it was meant to be a joke! I do wonder they didn't choose something like American rugby or even soccer though considering it is a dual limb sport unlike actual football.
@Mikey856 incorrect, soccer is played with feet & football with both hands and feet , my good european brethren
@nomither6 Football is played with feet, primarily. American football is played with hands, primarily.
Football also has a player who handles the ball, the goalkeeper. American Football has a kicker.
So American Football should be called American Handball so as not to confuse it with Handball. The nomenclature of American Football is wrong on many levels, except for the American bit 😂
From what the comments tell me, if something isn't strictly literally accurate, then it's wrong and should change it's name. Guess Sheffield Wednesday are going to have to change their name to Owlerton Saturdays and sometimes Tuesdays.
@riceNpea I think you'll find that American football is a descendent of Rugby Football, so the name American is highly inaccurate. Though calling it Rugby is also inaccurate as there is no evidence that William Webb-Ellis ever picked up an association football ball and ran with it whilst at Rugby school. 🤷♂️
@BeerIsAwesome I see. Let's refer to it as Made for TV Gridiron 😊👍
The update being Madden but with a layer of college football paint slapped on it because that's probably all the game will be.
@bozz I’m less likely to believe that otherwise they would have released it last year. The first iteration is gonna do record numbers for sure.
Removed - unconstructive feedback
@bozz well the teams that worked on the previous ncaa games are supposedly doing it & the ncaa games have been known to beat out their madden counterpart.
Removed - flaming/arguing
