In one of the more bizarre marketing agreements, it's been revealed Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has its own official TV: the Sony Bravia XR. A press release from Sony Electronics suggests the television "is the official gaming TV for this release, offering the ultimate gaming experience to guide users who take on the role of Cloud Strife and pursue Sephiroth, the legendary swordsman". There are not any new features actually exclusive to the TV when you play the game on it; this is just a bit of marketing.
The only real titbit is the press release mentions utilising VRR (variable refresh rate) suggesting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth may ship with a graphical mode that unlocks the frame rate at a slightly lower resolution. This hasn't been confirmed at the time of writing, though. The game launches as a PS5 exclusive next month on 29th February 2024.
One other detail from the press release is that after selling more than seven million copies, Final Fantasy VII Remake became Square Enix's highest-selling digital release on the PS Store in the company's history. Will you be buying this TV purely because it's now associated with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Please tell us you're joking in the comments below.

If I win the lotto on Wednesday I'll definitely get one.
My next TV will be a Sony, but my current Samsung is a 2023 flagship model so probably not until 2028 at least. With TV's you really get what you pay for, I could never go below top end models now - current graphics demand it if you want to see the true artistic direction, colours, details. It's absolutely staggering, like a generational difference in image quality on this factor alone.
Yup, sounds like a gimmick from modern day Sony.
How convenient I have the official Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth TV paired with the official console! I can't wait to play this game.
I don't think this is all that bizarre? FF7 will be a system seller and at this point of the lifecycle there will be plenty of people that are unsure which TV options are best for the PS5. Plenty of people will opt for this as an easy solution.
From a branding point of view I don't know why Sony don't do this at the start of every generation/console revision.
Here's the ultimate TV to go with your PlayStation.
“ The only real titbit “
Sex sells.😂
I haven’t seen anything on PS regarding getting FF7R Integrade when you preorder FF7 Rebirth on the PSN Store. Does anyone know if this deal includes ALL of FF7R or would I still need to purchase additional dlc? I played FF7R PS4 version when it came to PS+, also hoping that won’t cause any problems if I go this route.
I told my kid I’d get them FF7 Rebirth for their birthday and I usually go physical for gifts but no one has played Yuffies dlc yet, not sure if that’s the same as Intermission, Squenix and their stupid names, so if we get everything with a preorder then may go digital.
I have a recommended TV for each of my games which is why I live in a giant hallway.
@rjejr on the PlayStation store you can preorder rebirth and remake intergrade for the same price as just rebirth
@rjejr On the playstation store. Look out for a bundle called Twin Package. It's £69.99 for both games. You're essentially getting Remake for free.
It will contain Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PS5 (which contains yuffie dlc) and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for PS5
Interesting indeed. Quite happy with my LG C2, but I understand this is a great TV as well.
$1,400 TV (entry price anyways, goes up into the $5,000+ range) plus the $500 machine to get 40 FPS? Yeeesh. You can get a minimum of 60 fps, native 4k (PS5 being upscaled) for that cost buying a PC, assuming you can wait a bit for the game.
The basic Bravia or entry level Sony TVs will get you 30 for $200-300.
@TheCollector316 you forgot "officially play this official game", mate
Despite everything Square Enix is in my Top 3 developers, love to see Sony collaborating with them
I got one and its quite impressive, happy to hear my favorite game will make use of its technology
@Recover20 @MeerkatSimples Thank you both. I did see it on the store, added it to my wishlist, just wasn't sure if the Yuffie DLC, or anything else, was included or if I'd have to pay extra. Sometimes companies give away the base game for free to get you to spend money on the DLC. And having 1 thing named Intergrade and 1 thing named intermission wasn't helping. Even reading this paragraph I'm still not sure why it has 2 names. 😝
I guess Intergrade was just the name of the PS5 version to distinguish it form the PS4 version, but that seems stupid, who does that? 🤷♂️
" FF7R Episode INTERmission is the name of two DLC chapters starring Yuffie from FF7. Players who purchase Intergrade for PS5 will receive INTERmission for free; however, those receiving the Intergrade upgrade itself for free (due to owning the PS4 version of FF7 Remake) will need to pay $20 for INTERmission separately. The INTERmission DLC will not be available for FF7R on PS4. "

@rjejr You're welcome! That's Square Enix for you! Well moreso Tetsuya Nomura!
@Recover20 why would anyone buy the standard game for £70 when this exists. Unless you already done it ofc but I’ll wager most PS4 buyers didn’t buy 7Remake
@Terra_Custodes you're hilarious
Oh yeah? I'll be playing while wearing my officially branded FF 7R underwear.
Checkmate.
Shouldn't it be 1/3 of a tv?
Damn like the cheapest one I could find was a thousand dollars
