Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Upgrading Weapons and Armor

To upgrade your weapons and armor in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you need ingots. And the more that you upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the rarer the type of ingot that you need.

There are four rarity tiers to equipment. They are as follows:

• Fine (grey) - This is the default rarity for equipment that has not been upgraded
• Superior (red) - Requires Carbon Ingot
• Flawless (blue) - Requires Nickel Ingot
• Mythical (yellow) - Requires Tungsten (Gold) Ingot

You can perform these upgrades at the blacksmith, who can be found in your settlement.

What Does Upgrading Equipment Do?

So what does upgrading your equipment actually do?

Here's a quick breakdown:

• Unlocks further upgrade slots
• Unlocks additional Rune slots
• Gives the weapon/armor piece a new look (some weapons don't change their appearance)

Upgrading your equipment with ingots at the blacksmith does not increase its stats. To increase stats, you need to go into your inventory menu, highlight the equipment that you want to enhance, and then hold square (by default) to upgrade it with Leather, Wood, Linen, and Titanium. These four resources can be found all over the world, although Linen and Titanium tend to appear later on.

Keeping your weapons and armor up to date is very important, as doing so helps keep the strength of your hero inline with your enemies as you progress through the story. Where to Find Carbon, Nickel, and Tungsten Ingots

Upgrading your equipment is obviously a good idea, but again, you'll need the correct ingots in order to get the best from your gear.

The bottom line is that ingots are tied to the Power Level of a region. For example, in the early areas of the game — like Ledecestrescire, which has a Power Level of 20 — you'll only find Carbon Ingots.

Here's a quick breakdown of where to find each type of ingot:

• Carbon Ingot - Found in regions with a low Power Level (Power 20 - 55)
• Nickel Ingot - Found in regions with an average Power Level (Power 90 - 160)
• Tungsten Ingot - Found in regions with a high Power Level (Power 220 - 340)

There are three ways to find ingots in each region:

• Found in treasure chests which show an Ingot symbol on the compass/map
• Dropped by Elite enemies (enemies with yellow health bars) who are marked with a treasure icon
• Randomly dropped by Elite enemies who patrol the open world

If you ransack every town, village, and enemy camp, castle, or fortress, you should have more than enough ingots to upgrade your favourite equipment throughout the game. Also make sure to kill any Elite enemies that you run into out on the roads, as they also have a (seemingly small) chance to drop ingots.
