Console players have been able to enjoy Frontier's Planet Coaster for a while now, but what of its other management sim, Planet Zoo? Well, it's currently only available on PC, but that's about to change. Budding zoologists rejoice: it's heading to consoles, and very soon to boot.
Yes, Planet Zoo: Console Edition is coming to PS5 on 26th March 2024, retailing at £39.99 / $49.99. If you've played the developer's theme park sim, this game does much the same for zoos, allowing you to make and look after your very own. This version of the title includes all the PC game's four years of free updates, including all additional animals and other features.
Reworked with "intuitive console controls", the game has you creating zoos by constructing enclosures and filling them with the appropriate animals. You'll need to upgrade your site, look after all your creatures, and ensure visitors have a good time, all while making sure you turn a profit. That's the main goal of Career mode, at least, but you'll also have access to Franchise, Challenge, and Sandbox modes. What's more, the console cross-platform Frontier Workshop allows players to share "habitats, scenery, and even whole zoos" with one another.
If you pre-order the game, you'll get three exclusive species — the pygmy hippo, komodo dragon, and Thomson's gazelle. As well as the regular version of the game, a Deluxe Edition (£49.99 / $59.99) throws in a further 16 animals and two extra scenarios. Finally, the Ultimate Edition (£99.99 / $119.99) includes everything as well as a season pass, granting you access to 14 future DLC packs.
More details will be shared via the Frontier Unlocked presentation, which goes out on Twitch and Youtube 31st January at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm GMT.

Great news, it’s a brilliant game having played it on PC. Building can be quite confusing when you build bridges etc though. Be interested if it being bought to console might improve PC controls/make it have controller support?
This does look really good I remember watching gameplay for it before and it looks better than the Zoo tycoon games.
I’m still waiting for Prehistoric Kingdom to come out for console.
I haven’t played planet coaster but I really love both the JW Evolution games the first one more then the second one
Also, rumour has it their presentation tomorrow will unveil new Frontier projects.
Between Frontier and Playstation, tomorrow's going to secure any disposable income this year....
I always love the idea of playing these types of games a lot more than the reality.
Been itching for another management sim game since two point campus and planet coaster. Perfect timing as I should hopefully be done with Rebirth by then.
Oh man I loved Planet Coaster (albeit until I spent days building a park to find there was a build limit half way through creating my magnum opus)….looking forward to this!
Well, I hope it's better supported than F1 Manager and Elite Dangerous.
Put it in VR and I'd day 1
I hope they really worked out the controller support as I had a little problem building well...almost anything in Planet Coaster.
However, I own and love Planet Zoo on the PC so I am absolutely pumped for this to make it's way to PS5.
Planet coaster is one of my favourite games ever so I am beyond excited for this
This is right up my alley. I love wildlife and quite liked the roller coaster one and JP so this, for me should be the best of the bunch. If it reviews ok then its day 1.
Mrs is pawing the ground for this.
Good time to buy shares in Frontier, as they’re the lowest they’ve ever been.
